This has been a tough post to write; partly because I’ve been in a bit of denial, but it’s time for an update.
Our sweet Nova was diagnosed with a heart murmur this year, discovered during one of her routine medical exams. I’m diligent about these checkups to closely monitor the health of my dogs, and it’s moments like this that remind me exactly why that level of care matter so much.
The good news is that Nova’s murmur is non-specific and asymptomatic, and after multiple workups, there are no signs of worsening. The not-so-good news is that this means we will no longer be breeding her.
Because of that, our in-home breeding program will be paused for the foreseeable future. This decision has been incredibly hard, yet also an absolute no-brainer. My dogs are beloved family members and companions first, and breeding has always been a wonderful addition to our lives; never the focus above their happiness, health, and quality of life.
Breeding is something I’m deeply passionate about, but my top priority has always been to produce healthy, sound, and well-tempered Great Danes with longevity and sustainability. Being an ethical breeder means making the hard calls that put the health and wellbeing of your dogs and their offspring first.
While I’ve been a bit quiet on here, please know that I’m still very much available to all of my puppy families - past, present, and future - and to any Great Dane owners or breeders who reach out for guidance or support. I’ll always love building this community and keeping in touch with every one of my pups.
Thank you all for understanding and for standing by us through this transition. This isn’t the end… it’s just a pause. Stay tuned for the next chapter in Luna’s Legacy
(yes, that means another puppy will join us down the road!)
Lastly, I’m happy to share that Rolly remains available for stud services. He has undergone rigorous health testing and has passed all evaluations with flying colors. Maintaining these high standards is at the core of what I believe ethical breeding should be; and I’m proud to continue offering him as part of our program moving forward.
If you’ve made it this far, thank you. 💜
