Who Groomed That Dog?

Hello, my dear pups and their people! I'm happy to report that I'm about to sign another year's lease for my current location in Belgravia! For those who weren't aware, we are only renting our current home... But I'm really hoping to stay there until the time comes when we can buy a home of our own. I'm not sure where we will end up when all is said and done (hopefully somewhere south!) but I'm really loving living in Belgravia and have never felt more appreciated as a groomer. Seeing my clients all over the dog park and going on walks with their families past my house is an amazing feeling!

I have recently had to make the extremely difficult decision to close my books to new clients for the time being (I may hire an assistant in the new year). Turning people away has been much more difficult than I had anticipated, especially as word of mouth continues to spread in Belgravia. Thank you so much to everyone for your understanding with this, and I hope that I can continue to take new clients in the near future!

I just wanted to share a couple photos of two gorgeous pups that I groomed today for the first time... Sheba the great Pyrenees and Trixie the border collie! The classic acreage/farm breed power couple 🥰 Their family recently moved from an acreage into Edmonton, and they needed to find a groomer to get them all spruced up!

They were both so much fun to work with, but Sheba especially, since the hairy double coated breeds are my absolute passion! She was an complete angel to groom; the giant pups usually tend to "pancake" to some degree, meaning that they drop their weight on you and don't always willingly stand up 😛 As a solo groomer, its something that I'm happy to work around as I love working with these breeds so much (and who doesn't need a rest when you're standing up for a long time?!) ...but it can make things a little bit difficult and can be hard on your body...But Sheba stood perfectly to be pampered the entire time, and even though she took a long time to groom I don't feel sore at all after grooming her today!

Trixie and Sheba were a pleasure to work with today! Some people don't realize that groomers don't only do haircuts - we also deshed double coated breeds! If your pup is leaving hairballs around your house, feel free to shoot me a message and book an appointment!

Some sweet faces from recent days!

Sweet Beckett had a recent groom with me! Due to unforeseen circumstances, his owner had to go longer than usual between his usual grooms and Beckett did get matted and impacted with his very long undercoat. We got him fixed up and as is my top priority, I was able to get him dematted and brushed out without stressing him out! In fact, if you compare his facial expressions between the two photos, you will see that he was actually much more relaxed after his groom was completed than he was at the beginning, right after he was dropped off 😊 The first photo was taken immediately after his owner left, which is the most stressful part of the entire experience for the dogs (when their owner has to leave!)... You can see his wide eyes, tensely stretched back lips, and spatulate tongue (where the tongue curls back and expands on the end), ears back... All signs of stress. But if you compare it to the after photo, you can see his eyes and mouth/tongue are relaxed, ears are curiously perked up, and in general he is just a happy guy! I'm glad I was able to get his undercoat back to ship shape without stressing him (and actually making him feel much happier!) 😊
