Ranvik Norweigian Fjords

Ranvik Norweigian Fjords Norweigian Fjords It horse is now one of the national symbols of Norway! The majority are brown duns (90%) with the remaining 10% being red, yellow or grey duns.

From my Norweigian heritage, I have embraced this wonderful equine breed, and carried on our Norweigian family name, thus we are RANVIK NORWEIGAN FJORDS. More about us on my webstier under Ranvik Fjords

Archaeological excavations of Viking burial sites demonstrate that Fjord Horses have been selectively bred for at least 2,000 years, when it they were used by the Vikings as war horses. The Norweg

ian Fjord Horse retains many characteristics of primitive European horses and bears a striking resemblance to the horses painted on cave walls by ice age artists some 30,000 years ago. They are extremely hardy, able to thrive on poor grazing and endure the harsh environment. These horses are the most docile and loving breed, and are commonly used for theraputic riding due to their forgiving and gentle nature. They are most versitile, not only for theraputic riding, harness work in the fields, buggy and sleigh horses, to dressage and cross country competitions! Fjords generally stand 14 to 14.2hh and usually stocky with heavy bone and a solid build. Brown duns carry the dorsal strip down their backs with common white mane with the black in the middle. Fjords really are just like potato chips...can't just have one!
