Meet sweet Poppy!

Poppy was surrendered to RTRC from a local puppy mill along with 8 others. She is estimated to be about 6 years old and has given birth to multiple litters. When she arrived in foster care, she was completely covered in filth along with thick matting on her back end the size of your fist. She is making small strides every day in her foster home, but is still very nervous of human contact which is understandable given her lack of socialization and rough start in life.

Poppy will need quite a bit of vet care before she can start her new life in her forever home especially because she is a bit older. We are looking for donations to help cover the cost of her extra bloodwork, dental surgery and spay surgery. She needs a dental because her teeth are worn down, likely from years of chewing on the bars in her cage.

Please help us give this sweet girl the life she so deserves. This puppy mill mama would love to be healthy and loved for the first time in her life. Evee | Chihuahua-Dachshund mix (Chiweenie) | Female | 9 months | 12lbs. | Fostered in Caledonia

Meet Evee, an 9-month-old 12 pound Chiweenie with a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging. She is the definition of a velcro dog—she adores her humans and wants nothing more than to be near them, whether that’s cuddling on the couch, going for a car ride (her favourite!), or snoozing beside you all night in bed. She is not a fan of the crate.

Her cheerful personality is contagious—you can't feel sad when she is around. Evee is a polite little pup who does great free-roaming in the house when left alone, but since she’s still young, she needs a family who’s home more often than not to help her with frequent potty breaks and continue her puppy training. She would be fine with kids over 5 years old, or younger kids that are super dog savvy.

Evee would love a doggy sibling to romp around with and keep her company, but she would also be okay as an only dog if given lots of opportunities to play with other dogs.

She’s not a barker, so she could live in an apartment—just make sure she has space to run and play. She also walks nicely on a leash and enjoys outdoor adventures.

Evee is living with several other dogs and 2 cats and loves all of them. If you're looking for the perfect companion—affectionate, well-mannered, and full of joy—Evee is your girl.
