Odette's K9 Solutions

Odette's K9 Solutions Result Driven - Real World Dog Training After many years of working in corporate settings, I moved away from the city and landed in the Mount Forest area.

In 2014, I started Odette’s K9 Solutions. It came from a lifelong of passion, of working with people and dogs. My purpose was to create a training program that was simple, effective and result driven. Sharing my; knowledge, insight and tools, to create a stronger understanding of their needs and how to communicate effectively. I'm always thinking outside the box to do what’s best with each unique

situation and to get the desired results. I'll help educate and guide you through the process of training you and your four legged friend.

It's so inspiring to watch the progress, week by week, with the dogs and their pet parents :-)

Meet 'Tess'

Tess has been living with us since August 2024. Her rehabilitation has gone very well however she's struggling with separation anxiety and needs someone who is home most of the time. We are in and out quite a bit and it's causing more issues with there separation.

We have made the decision to find her an appropriate person to spend her life with.

The ideal home
- property for her to run, play ball, go for hikes in the forest etc
- retired person or who is home the majority of the time
- No children at home or visiting (she is not comfortable with them)
- She may be ok with another dog if they are passive and you are experienced (she currently lives with a dog)
- Dog savvy cats are welcome. She grew up with one and currently lives with two

Tess is a 2.5 year old Doberman/Lab cross.
She loves to play and show off her commands. She is off leash trained and eager to please. She is a 'velcro' dog!
Tess can take a bit of time to warm up to people.

She currently lives north of Mount Forest, ON

This is something everyone should see. This xray is of a 2 week old puppy.

When you get your 8/10 week old puppies, please keep this image in mind. Their bones do not even touch yet. They plod around so cutely with big floppy paws and wobbly movement because their joints are entirely made up of muscle, tendons, ligaments with skin covering. Nothing is fitting tightly together or has a true socket yet.

When you run them excessively or don't restrict their exercise to stop them from overdoing it during this period you don't give them a chance to grow properly. Every big jump or excited bouncing run causes impacts between the bones. In reasonable amounts this is not problematic and is the normal wear and tear that every animal will engage in.

But when you're letting puppy jump up and down off the lounge or bed, take them for long walks/hikes, you are damaging that forming joint. When you let the puppy scramble on tile with no traction you are damaging the joint.

You only get the chance to grow them once. A well built body is something that comes from excellent breeding and a great upbringing-BOTH, not just one.

Once grown - around 12-18 months depending on their breed, you will have the rest of their life to spend playing and engaging in higher impact exercise. So keep it calm while they're still little baby puppies and give the gift that can only be given once.

Puppies are amazing, aren’t they? Their sweet scent, soft fur, and unconditional love are hard to resist. But let’s be honest—raising a well-behaved pup takes dedication and effort.

As a trainer for both dogs and their human companions, it’s incredibly rewarding to watch families and their pups grow together. Often, they not only meet their goals but surpass them, learning so much more than they anticipated. Navigating the ups and downs of puppy hood isn’t always easy, but the results are absolutely worth it.

This family is a perfect example of what commitment and consistency can achieve. They’ve put in the time and effort to raise a well-behaved, balanced, and happy little dog—and it shows!

When we first started working together, they were facing significant challenges with a very reactive dog. Fast forward a few months, and their hard work has paid off in the most incredible way!

Through gaining insight, making meaningful changes in how they communicate with their dog, staying consistent, and putting in lots of practice, they’ve achieved something truly remarkable. No more lunging, twirling, barking on the leash, or excessive behaviors. Walks and outings are now enjoyable and issue-free!

The dedication and teamwork these ladies showed throughout this journey was nothing short of inspiring. It’s been a privilege to witness their growth and success.

Wishing them all the best in the future—you’ve earned it! 🐾

Gently exposing Ever to the vacuum. She can be a little shy at times, so this was an important milestone in her new home.

Thanks, Joyce, for helping make this happen!

This big, fun, goofy puppy is learning some self-control and manners. He likes to jump up on people, chase vehicles, and bite atv tires.

His pet parents and him have come a long way in 4 sessions.
There's still work to be done but he's making some great progress.

Although they've finished their first set of classes, there's still lots of training to be done. In and outside the classroom :-)

Best of luck to everyone!

These ladies have worked so hard with their 2 dogs. When we first started working together, their sheltie was quite a nervous reactive dog. With proper guidance, education, tools, dedication, and lots of practice - they now fully enjoy their daily walks with the dogs. :-)
