🚨 HOW HOT IS YOUR VEHICLE 🚨

Year after year, post after post, we are still faced with a problem that many dog owners ignore. Once those summer temperatures start to rise, you think to yourself, “I’ll just run in and grab a couple groceries”, “I’ll park in the shade while I run into an appointment”. Year after year, dogs are dying from owners not taking their health seriously when it revolves around summer time and leaving them in the vehicle.

So how hot does your car get? Even in temperatures sitting at 84, your vehicle can warm up to 98 in just 10 minutes. That’s HOT. Now think of your animal when those temperatures are starting to rise. With windows only down a crack, that’s letting in warm heat and therefor, making your vehicle warm up even faster.

So what does this mean for your dog? Even a quick 10 minutes your putting your dogs health in jeopardy. This can lead to heatstroke, brain damage, organ failure and sadly, if left too long, death.

A dogs normal body temperature sits at about 39 degrees Celsius, but once the body reaches to about 41, the body starts to fight. Once the body tries to fight the heat, the exhaustion sets in vital organs start to shut down. Neurological symptoms follow and with that, if help is not available to save this dog, death can be eminent.

If you see a dog in a vehicle where temperatures are above 20 degrees, these are the symptoms you want to watch for:

❌Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
❌Heavy drooling or thick, sticky saliva
❌Red gums and an anxious or staring expression
❌Lethargy, muscle tremors, or lack of coordination
❌Vomiting, diarrhea, or convulsions
Sudden collapse

If you see a dog in distress showing any of these signs, take photos/videos of the dog, screenshot the temperature outside and break the window.

If you are a witness to seeing a dog in the vehicle, where symptoms are not present but you are still concerned, then call your local RCMP by dialing 911 or non emergency 250-754-2345 along with your local SPCA. Take videos and pictures and screenshot the temperature of what it is currently.

Dogs do not have a voice, nor a choice to comfortably stay home. Be there voice and act accordingly to save there life when necessary.

If you are someone who actively ignores the consequences then please understand you are putting your dogs health at risk and will be fined, and sadly your beloved pet whom you say you love, could die.

PLEASE LEAVE YOUR PETS AT HOME!!

Share far and wide.
