This will be ver interesting because at some point they will all slow down. We can learn the tools to making them more comfortable.

If your dog is limping, moving slower, or struggling to get up, you might think it's just arthritis. But what if the real problem is muscle-related—specifically tight fascia and trigger points that make your dog’s movements painful and restricted.

This week on the Inside Scoop, Dr. Laurie McCauley, a Board-Certified Veterinarian in Canine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, is joining us to discuss how fascia (the connective tissue around muscles and joints) can cause stiffness and discomfort, leading to restricted movement. She’ll explain how trigger points (muscle knots) can form from overuse or stress, contributing to joint pain and share ways you can help relieve your pet’s discomfort at home.

We'll be covering:

⚡️ How fascia and trigger points affect your dog’s mobility
⚡️ Why joint pain might be more than just arthritis
⚡️ Simple ways pet parents can improve movement with massage and exercise at home
⚡️ Supplements like Boswellia, Green Lipped Mussel, UC-II and more to support mobility, as an example: dogs suffering with mobility, pain🤕 & joint🦴 issues improved in as little as 4 weeks when given a combo of undenatured type II collagen (UCII®) and Boswellia Serrata🌱 shows randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled, cross-over study.
or
A new peer-reviewed, double-blinded, placebo-controlled study shows dogs with osteoarthritis experience the same benefits in managing pain when given a combination of green lipped mussel & krill oil versus pain meds like Meloxicam.

Tune in this Sunday at 12 PM ET if you're looking for ways to help your dog feel more comfortable and move with ease.

Fresh hypericum tincture or oil

On the sunniest day of the summer, look in fields and along roadsides for the yellow flowers of Hypericum perforatum (aka St. John’s/St. Joan’s wort) and get ready to make two of the Great Remedies. Take both 100 proof vodka and pure olive oil with you when you go out to stalk St. John’s/St. Joan’s wort, bottles of various sizes, and a pair of sharp scissors.
Depending on the abundance or scarcity of flowers, I harvest anything from just the blossoms to the top third of the Hypericum plant. So long as the day is sunny and the plants dry the tincture will be active and medicinal even if it contains a fair amount of stalk and leaves. I also make a quart of this tincture as I use it frequently, in dropperful doses.
If you are using tops rather than just flowers, chop as needed. I often harvest Hypericum flowers right into my jar and fill it with vodka or oil while still afield, insuring optimum freshness and maximum fairy blessings.
Cover tightly. Label. I do not put my oil in the sun, but some people swear by it. Try one each way and see what you think. Your St. J’s tincture and your St. J’s oil will be ready to use in six weeks.

Two ingredient cantaloupe ice cream for dogs

Dogs love frozen treats when the temperature rises, and this doggy ice cream is as healthy as can be. ‘Healthy’ and ‘ice cream’ in the same sentence? You read that right. This two-ingredient recipe uses just cantaloupeand yogurt, but you can substitute any melon and any milk-type product your dog likes (and can tolerate).

Dog-Friendly Cantaloupe Ice Cream
Ingredients
2 cups frozen ripe cantaloupe
2 tbsp unsweetened yogurt

Food processor or blender
Freezer

Instructions
Scrub the outside of the cantaloupe thoroughly. Slice the melon in half and remove seeds.Slice each half into quarters and remove rind, then dice the fruit into bite-sized chunks. Place cut melon in the freezer. The more space around your melon chunks, the faster they will freeze, so if you’re in a rush, place pieces on a baking sheet to speed things up. When completely frozen (2-4 hours or overnight), place about 2 cups of melon pieces into the food processor.Add 2 tablespoons of unsweetened yogurt.
Blend until combined, adding a little cool water if needed to blend to your preferred consistency.
