Meet the newest member of the MRE team 😆🐴 His conformation isn’t ideal, but I think he’ll become a cherished member nonetheless! 😅😂

Today his duties include standing patiently while students learn the parts of a horse, and practice labeling on him. He’ll also be part of a for fun game of “pin the tail on the horse”. I’m sure his duties will expand as he joins in for future barn classes! If you’d like to meet our new member, shoot me a message about joining our barn classes!

Also, I’m currently taking name suggests 😂

And that’s a wrap for summer 2024 lessons!! What a busy, and incredible summer! It was so fun having a larger group of students back this summer, along with a few new students!

Regular barn classes were a new requirement for each student this summer, and I’m so happy with how it worked out! I truly enjoyed watching my students grow as more well rounded equestrians, as well as watching the friendships build with the larger groups of horse loving kids!

A huge thank you to Maegan and Madi for all of their help with lessons this summer! You two made our younger lessons run so much smoother, and were a huge help with chores around the barn as well! It was a pleasure watching both of your skill and knowledge develop through the summer as you helped out, and watching your enjoyment with helping! 🥰

Also a huge thank you to all parents who committed to lessons this summer and faithfully brought your riders. The support is so appreciated! It was a pleasure teaching your children! I look forward to having students back in a couple weeks for a bit of riding and some barn classes (more info on this will be sent out)!

I think one of my favourite things as a coach with new littles, is quietly taking off the lead rope for the first time and seeing their face when they realize they are riding by themselves. It’s priceles. every. single. time 😆😍

These little ladies rode all by themselves for the first time today, and they rocked it! So much confidence, and they had so much fun. 🐴

Rainy days are no problem for us! We pulled out our trusty old barrel friend to practice our riding today. 🐴 These brand new riders practiced their position and rein use. A perfect way to practice these important skills, without the added challenge of a horse!

Welcoming students back to the barn today after maternity leave! A bitter sweet day, but it was so much fun to see the smiling facing again!

And no babysitter for May means the baby tags along. She loved watching the horses, and even had a snooze 😴 I can’t wait to see the rest of my students return over the next couple months! 🐴🐎

‼️Here is the news everyone has been waiting for!

Yes, I do plan to offer lessons this year to a larger group than I had last year, and I am so excited!! 😍🎉 I am however still keeping my workload smaller than I had before the baby, as priorities have definitely changed. 💕

We have 3 different lesson packages to choose from this year. Each package includes at least one required barn lesson, as there is so much more to horses than just riding. I firmly believe that anyone riding needs to learn everything behind the scenes that makes riding possible. This develops better, more well rounded riders.

Returning students will be given priority for riding spaces, but barn lessons (package 3) is opened to new students!

Living off property from the horses, I don’t get to see them playing around too often anymore so it was so much fun watching them last evening!

Can anyone spot who the problem causer is? I’ll give you a hint- he is big and black, and might be named Dakota 😆🤪

A little look at tonight’s barn class 😍

Our first group talked about horse breeds and different riding disciplines. We had a little watch party with videos of different disciplines. Of course reining was first! 😍💁🏼‍♀️ And of course we had to have some popcorn 🍿

Our second group continued on with health care from last week, and discussed the importance of and the schedule for vaccinations, teeth, deworming and hoof care. We made up a yearly schedule for all of the above, and priced out what it would cost for the year.

Does anyone know the proper schedule for hoof trimming, and what we call the person who does this? Bonus points if you spell it right. 😆🙊

A couple super fantastic classes at the barn on Thursday! Our young group learned about horse names (mare, gelding, etc) and about how we measure horses. We measured each other to figure out if we were horses or ponies! 😆 Does anyone know what unit horses are measured in?? 👋

Our older group practiced taking the horses vital signs and all about the importance of proper health care.

Here’s a tricky question- does anyone know what a normal temperature is for a horse? 🌡️

A little late posting 🙊 but we had so much fun at the barn last week!

Our first group learned about stall cleaning, and we practiced with mini stalls 😍 Cornmeal was our sawdust, chocolate chips for manure, apple juice for p*e spots and we used forks as our manure forks. So much fun!! We also discussed when and why we would have a horse in a stall, various bedding options, manure management, and safe stall cleaning practices.

Our second group began learning their pony parts, followed by reviewing and practicing colours and markings. We read multiple sale adds and had to choose the correct picture based on the description, and wrote their own sale add for my horses. We had such great discussion, and so much fun! 🐴

I can’t wait for tomorrow, and all the learning we’re going to do this week! 😁
