** Update: his owners were Found! **
We have a special rescue cat to introduce!
Scout is a male ginger between 3 and 5 years old. His story is a rough one as he spent at least one Nova Scotia winter outside, if not more, fending for himself. Last year he was spotted in the backyard of a Smiths Cove resident, and all attempts to trap at that time failed. He was spotted again a few weeks ago and based on his appearance, it was urgent he was rescued.
It was only on the second day of setting up the live trap, he finally went in! And it turns out he is not feral at all, but in fact, a sweet, loving, friendly boy. Because he has long hair, the amount of mats all over his body was concerning. He was also covered in fleas. He has now been treated for parasites and fleas and ticks and his fur is now smooth and will become even more beautiful the healthier he gets.
Today he was neutered, vaccinated, and Snap tested. The results came back FIV positive but negative for FELV. This does not mean his diagnosis is a death sentence. It means he has a compromised immune system, and a possibility of a shorter lifespan than most other kitties. With proper veterinarian care, good food, lots of love and TLC, Scout can live a good quality life for many years.
His ideal adopter won’t have other cats, or perhaps another cat with FIV. However, because this boy had such a rough life, we believe he should be the only kitty in the house so he can receive all the love and attention that he deserves.
If you seek a companion kitty who can remain an indoor cat, please consider Scout. You won’t be disappointed. Especially if you bring out the brush and groom him! Never have I seen a kitty enjoy being brushed so much. His purring is musical.
Please consider bringing Scout into your home and provide him the love he so desperately needs. Email [email protected] for an application.
