You want to keep them safe. We know it's difficult to check. Seriously, how can you find something so small in all that hair? We personally have dogs that just don't like brushing. It's tough.

But it is important to check. Here are the places that you'll likely find ticks hiding, recognizing that they can be anywhere.

Prevention and repellents are best. Stop in to talk to us about a number of items you can use to keep them and you better protected.

As the number and types of ticks increase annually, it is best to use more than 1 type of prevention at a time. Even if you're using a pill/chew that causes your pets' blood to carry the insecticide - the bug still has to bite for it to work. There is still a chance of transmission of disease that could lead to illness. It's best to use a repellent as well. There are lots of options.

We know that not every tick carries disease, but how can we ever know which one does until it's too late?

Treat them like family, and keep everyone safe; naturally.

Find this picture, pinned to the top of our page to upload a picture of the pet you celebrate - either their birthday or gotcha day if you don't know their birthday - during the month of June.

Winners will be chosen through random number generator and your chance of winning will be dependent on the total number of entrants for the month.

The prize? A $25 in store gift certificate to Toby and Bella's. It must be picked up in store so you should likely be local to enter, or have someone you trust pick it up for you.

We'd love if you share your pets' name, age and birth date. But it's not required.
