The Nova Scotia SPCA accepts animals into its care regardless of their age or health. We also follow no-kill principles which means we do not euthanize animals for space. Unexpected life situations happen and the SPCA strives to be approachable, non-judgemental and understanding. On average, healthy and friendly animals are adopted into loving families in less than two weeks! You simply have to ca

ll and arrange an appointment so the shelter can learn about what is the most suitable type of home for your pet. The appointment also allows the shelter to prepare a cozy space for your pet to make the transition as smooth as possible. We understand how difficult it is to surrender a pet and thank all owners who are able to make the best decision for their pet. To learn more visit: https://www.novascotiaspca.ca/animal-surrender/

It’s , and we wanted to give a shoutout to Frankie and Rory! These two animal lovers held a lemonade stand earlier in the summer for a class project and raised more than $200 for furry friends! 🙌

We’re in awe of their hard work and dedication, and we hope it makes your day brighter! 🥹

Thank you, Frankie and Rory, for being such su-paw-stars! 💙

This week those temperatures will be high. ☀ And that might mean more adventures with your pet. We want to make sure summer = fun, so here are some tips to remember to keep your pet safe:

🐾 Hydration is important! Your pet needs clean, fresh water in/outdoors.

🐾 Check hot surfaces before going outside!

🐾 Walk your doggo in the morning and evening and avoid times when the temperature is the highest.

🐾 Don’t leave your pets outside for long periods of time, and while outside they should have access to shaded areas.

🐾 Don’t leave your pets in hot cars! It’s better to leave them at home.

Do you have other tips? Let us know in the comments. ⬇

Safe = fun! 😎

Raleigh’s love for animals started young, and she did all she could to make sure furry friends would have a better future. 🐾 When she passed away earlier this year at just 20 years old, Raleigh left a legacy of compassion that continues to change the lives of animals, along with a lesson: helping doesn’t have to be a grand gesture. It can start with a glass of lemonade. 🥹
