And yes… our Scentless Services are always available for our sensitive pups and pet parents— just mention it to Jodie at drop-off! 🐾💙

As we head into the busiest time of the year, we kindly ask for everyone’s patience. With only two bathtubs and a very full holiday schedule, there may be the occasional wait. We promise — we are working our absolute hardest to get every pet out safely, beautifully, and on time.

✨ December Booking Update – Please Plan Ahead ✨

As we head into our busiest time of the year, we kindly ask all clients to plan ahead for December appointments. Our schedule is nearly full, but we do have a few openings here and there.

If you’d like to be added to our waitlist, please email [email protected].
At this time, our online booking system does not offer a waitlist feature, but we’re patiently waiting for this to be developed.

When emailing, please include:
• Your full name
• Phone number
• Email address
• Your pet’s name & breed (dog or cat)
• Preferred service

We’re doing our very best to maintain a flexible and reliable schedule for all of our amazing clients. This requires a lot of teamwork on our end and a bit of patience on yours — and we truly appreciate it.

Here’s a little update on Sweet Cotton! 🤍🐾
She came in this week for her lion clip to reboot her coat and keep her comfortable through the winter and into spring.

We also received the sweetest, thoughtful thank-you card/s from her human kiddo. 💛

A huge shoutout to Sue, (We have a card for you as well!) and to our incredible Dodge City Grooming clientele, for helping us jump-start this little local fund that supports pets who need a bit of extra help. Your generosity makes moments like this possible.

🐾 PAY IT FURWARD — Celebrating 10 Years by Giving Back

This year marks 10 incredible years in business for Dodge City Grooming, and we want to celebrate by giving back to the community that’s supported us — and to the pets who live here. 💛

We’re proud to introduce our first “Pay It Furward” fundraiser, created to help subsidize grooming for families and pets in need.

One of our first recipient is “Cotton/aka baby kitty” a long-haired senior kitty who requires a lion trim due to her difficult coat and her lack of being able to groom herself properly. Her mom is a single parent in a difficult situation, and while she provides endless love, finances have been tight.

🚨Dunsmuir is closed at 4pm sharp this Friday.🚨
We will be closing our doors for walk-in appointments by 3:30pm. As amazing as this event is, we suggest keeping your pets at home due to the number of people, costumes, loud sounds and the obvious… chocolate. 🍫❌

We still will be handing out doggy cookies for the seasoned pooch and candy, chips and chocolate for the kiddos and adults who dress up 😍💀 we want to see ALLLL the costumes!

These doodles are serving looks with their long, fluffy puppy cuts 🐾✨

With a regular grooming schedule and some dedicated at-home line combing, their coats stay gorgeous, soft, and tangle-free. While we’re always fans of short and sporty styles, there’s just something extra cute about these walking teddy bears 😍

They pop in every 4–6 weeks for a fluff-up bath and tidy, alternating with a full groom + light trim to keep things fresh.

📚 The Importance of Hand Stripping Your Terrier ✂️

Hand stripping isn’t just an old-school method — it’s the correct way to maintain a terrier’s natural coat texture and skin health.

Unlike clipping, which cuts the hair and softens the wiry texture, hand stripping removes the dead coat from the follicle. This encourages new, strong, and richly pigmented hair to grow in — keeping that crisp terrier outline and weather-resistant coat your dog was bred for.

When a terrier is clipped repeatedly, the coat can become dull, fuzzy, and lose its natural color and protection. Over time, this can also lead to trapped undercoat, matting, and skin irritation.

Hand stripping supports:
✅ Healthy skin and coat renewal
✅ True-to-breed texture and color
✅ Longer-lasting, easy-to-maintain results

However, not every coat or dog is a candidate for hand stripping. We do not hand strip coats that have been clipped multiple times, dogs who have not been properly exposed to the process, or those with medical or skin conditions that could affect comfort or longevity of results.

As dogs become seniors, we always do what’s in the best interest of the animal — adjusting our approach based on their comfort level and what they can safely tolerate. Their well-being always comes first. 💛

🐾 At Dodge City Grooming Salon
Cara is our specialized and certified professional groomer for hand stripping. At this time, her hand-stripping services are full; however, when one dog moves, we can fill that spot with her approval and with your compliance to keep your dog on a consistent schedule.

We also carry professional-grade tools available for purchase so owners can help maintain their terrier’s coat at home between visits. Pop in and ask Jodie, our very educated receptionist, or one of our dedicated groomers for advice.

For additional home care equipment, we also refer out to our friends at in Comox.

At Dodge City Grooming, we take pride in preserving coat integrity and working with your dog’s natural structure — not against it. 🐾

📅 Most hand-stripped coats benefit from rolling maintenance every 4–8 weeks (at home) while booking their appointments with Cara every 12 weeks.

🚨 We’ve Officially Moved to Mogo! 🚨

Online booking is now live through our new system: MOGO — built just for grooming and made to make your life easier!

Why we switched:
We’re no longer with Schedulicity (they sold to Vagaro) and after trying Vagaro, it just wasn’t the right fit. Mogo is smooth, smart, and made for what we do.

✅ Easy booking
✅ Auto rebooking reminders
✅ Grooming report cards (when needed)
✅ Better communication between clients & groomers

📌 Waitlist Update:
The waitlist feature isn’t live yet on Mogo — so for now, text, call, or email us if you want to be added.

🐾 Current Clients: Book ahead to lock in your spot or two. If you don’t see availability online, we’re likely full — but reach out and we’ll do our best to help.

🐾 New Clients: We’re very limited on space and are handling new bookings case-by-case. We do have a new client waitlist — just contact us to get on it.
