Wildfire Season: Protect Your Water System 💧
BC Wildfire has announced new fire restrictions across the Southeast Fire Centre. During wildfire season, private well owners should also take steps to help protect their water systems and stay prepared.
A few simple precautions can help protect your water supply:
💧 Keep your wellhead area accessible and free of debris
💧 Make sure your well cap is properly secured and in good condition
💧 Keep electrical components, exposed wires, and water lines protected from damage
💧 Consider backup options such as a generator, solar power, or battery backup to support your water system during power outages
💧 Know where your pump power shut-off is located
💧 After wildfire impacts, inspect your system and test your water before returning to normal use
Stay informed, stay safe, and protect your love ones this wildfire season.
