Thank you all for your patience this past two weeks since Scott's injury after being rear-ended at a stop sign on his scooter (a motorcycle type, the Yamaha version of a Vespa). He did try to come in early on and sit and answer the phone, but being in here was very painful and just made it worse, he needs his leg to be up and he can't stand or walk yet.
I have been doing as many drop in nail trimmings as I am comfortable with due to time, size and behavior. Mostly small dogs, with a few medium dogs I am very familiar with and know for sure will be cooperative. This is partly for safety - the dogs' and mine - and partly because if your dog genuinely needs two people to have a smooth, stress-free experience, it's better to stay the course and not let them have a less smooth / more stressful experience.
I do apologize, I know it's inconvenient and has irritated a few people. I'd much rather Scott be healthy and in the shop and us not have to disappoint anyone :) He often makes it look easy, but he's a very skilled dog handler. Also, I'm doing his job here at work, as well as my own, at reduced capacity, and doing his chores at home too and trying to make sure he has everything he needs, so I can't take any chances that I will hurt myself trying to do two-person nails dogs. I truly am doing what I can, today I did 15 drop ins, but I did have to turn away 4 others, and I do apologize.
The good news is, Scott's leg is very slowly getting slightly less awful - I'll stop short of saying better. He may be able to try phone duty again sometime in the next week, we'll see. I'm not sure how long it will be before he can help with nail trims, so you may wish to call first.
Final thought, I know accidents happen, but it sure would have been nice if the other driver had been paying attention to the road and stopped behind Scott, who was stopped at a 3 way stop waiting his turn. It could have been so much worse with more serious injuries of course. It could have been a kid walking through the crosswalk, not an adult on scooter wearing protection. But it sure would have been nice if it hadn't happened at all. Please be careful out there.
Thanks again for your patience everyone.
