Our friend Shannon — mom of three, dedicated Pony Club volunteer, wholehearted equestrian, coach, and one of the people who helps make this community wonderful — is currently fighting cancer.
She doesn't ask for much, but anyone who has gone through months of treatment, or supported someone who has, understands the toll it can take.
A few weeks ago, Shannon mentioned she was going to miss this year's Comox Valley Pony Club show.
Last year, she helped run the event.
This year, she can't attend at all.
Missing the show is one thing. Missing the chance to stand ringside and cheer on your child is another.
So we made her something.
The "Wholehearted" plank is hers to keep.
The poles are being auctioned off, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to Shannon and her family.
