He used to drag me on walks. Yesterday he stopped three times just to smell the same patch of grass. 🐾

I almost got frustrated.

Then I looked down at his grey face and realized something.

He is not slowing down because he is giving up.

He is slowing down because he finally trusts that I am not going anywhere.

I sat down in the middle of the sidewalk with him that day.

We stayed there for fifteen minutes watching leaves fall.

It was the best walk of my entire life.

Hug your dog a little longer today.

The pace was never the point. The presence was. 🍂
