We are currently open by appointment only for approved adopters. Appointments may be made during the following hours:

If you'd like to meet an animal outside of these hours, please call 785-2747 and leave a message with your name and number - we'll get back to you as soon as possible! Supplies can be dropped in our bins at Coleman’s at the Garden, Dominion, Sobeys, Western Pet Supply, Danny’s Paw Prints or at our shelter during business hours. Items that we are always in need of include clumping cat litter, bleach, clear/blue garbage bags, dry cat and kitten food, wet cat food, all purpose cleaners, and baking soda.

These two majestic looking cats, Oliver (top) and Sophie (bottom), were recently surrendered to the shelter. This bonded pair of siblings is approximately 7 years old. They're both pretty chill and affectionate. They can be very vocal when they want your attention. Oliver is a little more laid back where Sophie is more adventurous. They seem to get along fine with the other cats in the shelter. They would do best in a home with no young kids. They are fixed and have received their first vaccinations.

Penny recently came to the shelter after being found living outdoors. She's approximately 7 years old. Penny is the ultimate lap cat; she will stay there all day long and actually gets a little upset if you try to get up before she's ready. She's very affectionate and loves attention. Unfortunately she doesn't get along with other cats so would do best in a home by herself. Penny is spayed and has received her first vaccination.

Please keep an eye out for Mama! She got out in the Quinton street area of the heights. She’s not an outdoor cat, so could be under a shed or in someone’s yard.

Petunia was recently surrendered to the shelter along with two of her sisters. She's approximately 8 years old. Petunia is very timid cat who is slow to warm up to new people. Once she gets to know you she loves attention and purrs up a storm when she gets it. She can usually be found snuggled into one of her sisters, either Nancy or Sadie. We think that Petunia would have an easier time adapting to a new home if she was adopted with one of her sisters (or maybe some crazy cat lover would take all 3? 👀) Petunia is spayed, fully vaccinated, and has tested negative for FeLV/FIV.

As we head into the final stretch of the 30 day Veitch Wellness Centre, NL West SPCA Business Challenge - we would like to recognize the amazing contributions of these businesses who have answered the challenge at $1000 or met us halfway with a donation of $500. We are very aware that finances are tight and the world feels uncertain these days so we are beyond grateful to Shoppers Drug Mart, Pizza Delight Murphy, Brothers Law, Western Hydraulic & Mechanical Ltd., Danny's Paw Prints and Three G Services and of course Veitch Physiotherapy and Wellness Centre for your generous support! Thank you for helping us keep our community safe and healthy with supporting our mission to keep animals out of dangerous situations, and getting them ready to move on to safe homes. We are still working to refill our depleted veterinary care fund and would like to find just 4 more businesses that will answer the challenge.
