Keep your pets cool this summer! ☀️
Today feels like the first real hot day of the season in Southern Georgian Bay ☀️🐶
Just a friendly reminder that our pets can overheat much faster than people especially early in the season before they’ve had time to acclimate to warmer temperatures.
Please remember:
🐾 Never leave pets unattended in vehicles
🐾 Pavement can burn paws quickly
🐾 Bring lots of fresh water on walks and adventures
🐾 Limit strenuous activity during peak afternoon heat
🐾 Flat-faced breeds, seniors, overweight pets, and anxious dogs are at higher risk
Signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke may include:
• Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Weakness or collapse
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Bright red gums
• Difficulty breathing
Heat stroke can become life-threatening very quickly.
If you are concerned your pet may be overheating, contact a veterinarian immediately. e We are open today 8am-8pm
Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine! 💙
