You are our foundation girl, Momma of 3 litters, dock diving record of 25.5 feet and always up for an adventure ❤️GCH Scotiapride’s Acadian Jigs, RA, DM, SA, VA, CGN. You are now living out your retirement with my sons Matt and Alex Southcott and Brynn Phyall on Cranberry Lake. Best girl ever! Thank you Barbara Blauvelt for trusting me with Jigs way back in 2019!

Decoy achieved his Rally Intermediate title today and Maggie got her Rally Novice title at the Kennebecasis Obedience Show today! Decoy also won breed three times over the last two days in a lovely line up of Tollers at the NBKC show. Doing rally and conformation at the same time is challenging and I have a lot of respect for those who juggle different competitions at the same time. Thank you to the the two clubs for putting on these wonderful events. 🐾❤️😎

Excellent article about the history of Tollers.

The settlers arriving to North America from France and England brought the hunting traditions from Europe to the new continent. They knew about the red dogs, and they knew that ducks could be hunted with red dogs.

We’ve had Hazel staying with us this week so Decoy and Zunga took her swimming early this morning to show her how it’s done. In typical Toller fashion, she didn’t miss a beat and ran right into the lake after the big dogs and that was that! I shouldn’t have been surprised as her mum Jigs is bold and tries anything and everything. Looks like she’s been swimming all her life! Look at our girl Jase Babcock and Ben Rockwell!

We went to Crazy Dog Splash Pad in St Croix today to introduce Marion Bowers girl Maggie to dock diving and boy oh boy did she ever love it! She was jumping off the dock in no time! Zunga and Decoy had a blast as always and Gerry Young and her curly coated retrievers had fun and Ana Calderone Rubio’s pups splashed about!

Thank you Swayze Noteworthy Miramichi KC Dog Show for a super fun weekend! Decoy won breed five times in a lovely lineup of Tollers and a group four under sporting dog judge Judge Tom Alexander 🙏❤️He had four sprinter runs clocking a pair of 8.7 runs and two dock dives with his best being 18.9 - thanks to Dwain Davis for all the great bumper throws! Zunga had fun dock diving and I took him in a sanction match on Saturday night and he was so pleased to be back in the show ring! Thank you Patrick and Walter and all the volunteers for a wonderful weekend!

What an incredible weekend for our Little River Barbara Blauvelt❤️ Group one under Judge Judith Taylor and a Group three under Judge Doris Willis at the Cape Breton Kennel Club Show in an outstanding lineup of beautiful dogs. Thank you judges for finding our boy this weekend and thank you to all the volunteers for putting on such a wonderful show. Decoy is #2 Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever in Canada and #1 in my heart❤️🐾For those of you wondering why I referred to Decoy as a Little River it’s because that’s what Tollers were called before they were recognized by the CKC in 1945 and called Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers. People in Yarmouth familiar with the breed still refer to them as Little Rivers and since Decoy comes from the very old Yarmouth hunting lines of Eddie Babine he can proudly be called a Little River.

It’s time to shine a light on CH Eastwest’s Because of Schubendorf, NS CGN and her incredible co owner and my dear friend Marion Bowers. “Maggie” is a proud ambassador for Toller Beer this summer and is on billboards in Halifax Metro and on Burnside Brewings Instagram page. I am so darn proud of this girl (who is two) and Marion (a 70 something woman) who as a total newbie to the dog show and dog sports world put a CKC championship on Maggie, a Canine Good Neighbor title and a Novice Sprinter title on her. She loves her girl fiercely and is busy doing agility and rally with her now. Never let it be said you can’t teach an old dog new tricks!!!❤️❤️❤️For anyone wondering about Maggie’s registered name, the Schubendorf comes from early Toller breeders Eldon Pace’s Schubendorf Kennels. My father bought me my first Toller when I was a young girl of seven from Eldon Pace who was in charge of the Shubenacadie Wildlife Park at the time. Eldon and Avery Nickerson of the well known Harbourlights Kennels in Yarmouth were working together to improve the breed in the sixties. My first Toller, Alexander Rufus of Schubendorf, was my introduction to Tollers❤️Thank you Brewing, Marion Bowers Barbara Blauvelt Siona Rounis April Saulnier and everyone else who has helped us on this journey that has only just begun❤️❤️
