Doodles Shed Too! 🐾✂️
Think your Doodle doesn’t shed? Think again! 😉
While many Doodles are lower-shedding than some breeds, they can absolutely shed—and their curly or wavy coats can trap that loose hair, which means it may come out during brushing, bathing and grooming.
Just look at this pile of fluff! 😳🐶
✨ Proper grooming tips for shedding Doodles:
🪮 Brush regularly — Aim for several times a week, and daily brushing may be needed for longer or curlier coats.
🔍 Brush all the way to the skin — Don’t just brush the surface. Use a line-brushing technique to work through the coat section by section.
🦴 Follow with a metal comb — A comb should be able to glide from the skin through the entire coat. If it can't, there may be tangles or matting underneath.
🛁 Keep up with professional grooming — Regular baths, thorough drying and proper coat maintenance help remove loose hair and keep the coat healthy.
✂️ Keep the coat at a manageable length — A shorter, well-maintained coat can be much easier to keep mat-free, especially for active dogs.
⚠️ Don't wait for mats to become severe — Matting can hide close to the skin and become uncomfortable or even painful.
🚫 Shaving doesn't stop shedding — Clipping the coat removes the hair you can see, but it doesn't change the dog's natural shedding cycle.
💗 Remember: Every Doodle's coat is different. Genetics, coat type, length and grooming routine all play a role in how much they shed.
A good grooming routine isn't just about looking beautiful—it's about keeping your pup comfortable, healthy and mat-free! 🐶✨
