Chocolate contains theobromine, which is toxic to both dogs and cats. Even small amounts can cause vomiting, diarrhea, rapid heart rate, seizures, and in severe cases, can be fatal.
Dark chocolate and baking chocolate are especially dangerous!

Atticus update 👅💦
We got through today with great news Dr.Kathleen Beekmann Cardiologist said Atticus’s heart is strong and in good health. He has a 2/6 murmur but nothing we need to be concerned about 😆 I have attached the cardio work up invoice paid in full $1,312.34 ♥️

He is a go for general anesthesia for dental x rays and dental surgery if needed tomorrow, while under anesthesia they will also do his airway examination and hip and knee X-rays. l have attached the quote for tomorrow’s procedures $2,498.00 - $3,679.17

🩺 Tuesday, October 28th:
Consultation with the dental surgeon Dr. Matt Meihls at 9:45AM -
Consultation and Echo with Cardiologist Dr. Kathleen Beekman at 1:30PM

*Atticus to spend the night provided he is cleared by cardiologist to proceed with general anesthetic*

🩺Wednesday, October 29th:
Dental x rays under anesthesia, if missing teeth are impacted and the extra teeth are not vital Atticus will then go straight into surgery to have all teeth removed with Dr. Matt Meihls.
🩺While under anesthesia Dr.Lea Mehrkens will do the airway exam to determine the confirm the elongated soft palate and any other airway issues, Dr.Lea will also do his hip and knee radiographs.

🩺Friday, October 31:
Atticus’s left hind leg will be casted and fitted for his custom orthotic knee brace through Ortho Design in Quebec.

Once we get the results from
all the above tests, we will know what surgeries Atticus will need if any 🤞

🐾UPDATE Oct 5th

Atticus has a surgical consultation with Dr Lea Mehrkens at the Capital City Specialty & Emergency Animal Hospital in Ottawa on Wed 8th at 10:30am. The consultation is 45mins and we will discuss the surgery, length of stay and aftercare etc. During this consultation we will also know the cost of the elongated soft palate correction surgery 🫣 he also needs to be fasted for this consultation in case they need to run and other tests.

🐾 UPDATE Sept 25

Yesterday was such a long day 😩 Atticus was very sedated when he came home, poor little guy slept most of the night and we slept on couch to be with him as he wasn’t allowed to do stairs.

The airway exam diagnosis is an elongated soft palate, he is also missing both his lower back molars one on each side and 3 extra molars on the upper jaw 🫣

Atticus will be referred to a BAOS specialist for further exams to determine surgical needs 🥺 we are being referred to a Brachycephalic surgeon at Capital City Specialty & Emergency Animal Hospital in Ottawa.

I have come up with a few nail/paw care packages that will save YOU a little money and help us to raise funds for our little man 🥰
