💛 URGENT: Mello Needs a Special Home 💛

Mello’s world turned upside down when his beloved owner passed away. Since then, he’s been struggling to adjust — and the kennel environment has been especially hard on him. He becomes extremely anxious when left alone, and despite all our efforts, it’s clear that returning to Dog Tales would put him at risk of injuring himself.

Mello has been staying with a wonderful foster who has helped him make progress. But he still can’t be left by himself, so he needs a home where someone is around most of the time — whether that’s someone who works from home, is retired, or can bring him along during the day.

His foster family is leaving on November 11, so we’re racing against time to find Mello a safe, stable place to go next. He’s a loving, loyal dog who just wants to feel secure again. A home with no other pets or children.

If you can offer Mello the companionship he needs — or even know someone who can — please reach out to us as soon as possible. He truly deserves a second chance at feeling loved and safe. 💛

🐾 Willow Needs Her Forever Human 🐾
Sweet Willow is back at our shelter — through no fault of her own. 💔 After just a few days in a new home, her adopters realized they weren’t the right fit. At 12 years old, Willow finds herself heartbroken and confused, searching once again for her person.
Willow spent her entire life with one owner. When she lost that stability, her world was turned upside down. She’s what we lovingly call a Velcro dog — once she bonds, she bonds deeply. She wants to be by your side, always.
Because of her past, Willow struggles with separation anxiety and becomes overly protective of the person she connects with. She may growl or act defensively around others who get too close to her person, especially if not corrected appropriately. That’s why she needs someone dog-savvy, who understands behavior and can gently guide her with calm, consistent leadership.
🦴 The good news? Willow has great bite inhibition and responds well to correction when handled by someone who knows how to communicate with dogs. With time, patience, and reassurance, she can settle in and thrive.
💛 Willow needs:
A quiet home (ideally with no other pets or young kids)
An experienced individual who understands protective behaviors
Someone who can be her rock, her routine, and her reason to feel safe again
She’s not asking for much — just one person to believe in her and never give up on her.

Happy Thankful Thursday RSNB Family!

You can all be thankful that I probably won't have time to make the usual Happy Friday post, but today I'm thankful for several reasons.

I'm thankful for Tara L Wray. Tara stepped up to do the volunteer schedule for Sunday and she also sent me the bio for a senior dog at Oshawa Animal Service Center. Needless to say, I fell in love with this boy pretty quick and I could hear Kelly whispering "take him" in my ear. Given I have a pretty busy weekend coming for the first time in decades, I was quite relieved when OASC agreed to hold him until Monday so he can have a smoother transition to his new life. I miss him already so I'm going to Oshawa tomorrow to take him for a walk and spend some time with him.🥰

I'm also thankful to all of you who volunteered a lending hand on Sunday and appreciate your patience while we tried to figure it out.❤

This is a courtesy post on behalf of Red, who has fostered for RSNB in the past and has been fostering these 3 dogs for the last year for Cause 4 Paws, a Toronto based rescue. I personally don't know anything about these dogs or this rescue, but I'm sure Erika would be happy to answer any questions.
