Pup, pup, puppies have arrived! How could anyone say no?
(Yes, I have learned the "no, I'm sorry we are at capacity at this time) however I have FAITH these two adorable boys won't be long finding great homes (after vetting).
A very big thanks to Liz today for transporting and Sato Saved End of the Line Dog Rescue and Rehabilitation for trusting us with their care! *think we all feel a snoozing coming "on"
These boys were born April 4th 2025 and we'll book their their surgeries asap. If you were thinking of adding a furry companion to your family pls find our application at www.ruffstartnewbeginnings.ca and we'll get back to you within 24 hrs.

*please note we are currently NOT a accepting owner surrenders at this time. Our shelters are Litterly bursting at the seems and sadly 95% of the surrender requests I take have issues No one wants to put any work into becoming the great dogs owner you thought you could be? Your search should start with visits to rescues/shelters, researching the breed to see if that particular dog iss the one that's the perfect fit, for your family 😊

Again thanks to Carmella who we hired to have help us help Daisy overcome her fears. *next UP it's with GRATIDUDE that we were offered help from Souha Ezzedeen at Way of Life Dog Training who will help Anna and Pascal help her settle into a new home and routine. We are are incredibly thankful for this kinder than kind offer to help.
The couple recently received a support dog named Wilber who we believe will be a huge asset adjusting her living life of of a well loved dog! ❤🐾🐾

Thank you everyone!

As we are preparing to close the rescue we receive daily pleas to help with owner surrenders and a page dedicated to dogs in shelters that that breaks my heart to see so many needing help.

My diagnosis is not good, however the need continues to rise, we moved here 11 yrs ago, fenced in 3 acres and before Chris could start/finish/kennels and with winter setting in, we scrambled to intake dogs from Northern communities in Manitoba, Quebec and Ontario.

We switched gears when numbers of pets were being surrendered (for the very reason their people said NOW was a good time, re COVID and time at home, seeing a record number of dogs with separation anxiety. Some to the point of harming themselves in a shelter environment.

We all knew it would happen at some point, but along with the overwhelming numbers of dogs having behavioral issues because they weren't socialized, or some behavioral issues weren't corrected and the dog is now "out of control"

Dogs are opportunistic animals, and will soon find their "pecking order" and of course if there is no consequences/leadership or your lack or training, isn't an easy fix *or you just didn't have the time

*LOTS of free information/YouTube can be beneficial too.
Currently we have only Ghost and Hugo (Santuary dogs) but we will be welcoming 2 pups to our care, this coming week! 😊

Thanks to new volunteer Sylvia, has offered to keep watch re emails and stream line our application process.

🐾 fundraiser in the fall to cover the wood pellets that keep our guests warm and cozy in their new environment. (Not sure how this is going to look but we're working on it!)

Visitors! Come toss a ball for a dog in our care, help them realize that (most) humans care deeply for their FAMILY members but unfortunately life still happens.

So moving forward we will need helping other rescues that we know are doing great work a couple of dogs here that needed help immediately and will remain until they are healthy and ADOPTABLE!

In some small way I knew we could help a few more, and although saving one dog won't change the world, but the world will surely change for that one dog. 🐾

(Once I'm gone a volunteer will post my obituary and direct you toward giving a small donation to any rescue) *not today, though!

THANKFUL THURSDAY 🍁

Not only were we over the moon delighted to be the recipient of Paws for the cause 50/50 draw, friend to the rescue Charlene Pearson Carr donated her portion back!

Add a fun filled Sunday with some incredible volunteers shaving their heads for RSNB and Small Town Cat Project (Northumberland County, Ontario)

We unfortunately are not in a position to carry on with the daily running of the rescue but we still have BIG PLANS helping other rescues, especially in these times of so much uncertainty.

Our Story

All breed Canadian dog rescue. Helping a good dog find a great home! Homeless dog are our priority as well as working with shelters and rescues for at risk dogs in Canada. We have our rescue retreat in Colborne, On where most dogs come, to get to know them and their needs. EVERY dog is treated like they our own for the time they are with us. We will post the dogs in our care ONLY when they are ready to go HOME! Our Adoption fee is $400.00 All dogs are Spayed/neutered utd with all shots, microchiped and flea and tick prevention.

We will send home with a newly adopted dog, collar/lead, dog food, treats for your new companions well being and on to their new beginning!
