✨ One of my favourite things about this job is connecting with other amazing pet professionals! ✨

Northumberland is full of incredibly talented groomers, and I absolutely love welcoming new businesses to our community. ❤️

One question I get asked all the time is:

“Do you groom dogs mobilely?” 🚐✂️

The answer is… nope! 😂

Unless you’d like your dog to look like a two-year-old was left unsupervised with scissors, grooming is definitely not one of my talents. 🙈

I also hear from quite a few people who don’t drive, and unfortunately our local taxi services aren’t able to accommodate dogs, which can make getting to a grooming appointment really difficult.

That’s why I’m so excited to introduce Emma from BubbleMutts.ca! 🎉 Bubble Mutts

Emma has recently moved into Northumberland County with a fully equipped mobile grooming salon. That means she comes to you! 🚐✨

Whether you’re short on time, don’t have transportation, or your pup is more comfortable staying close to home, mobile grooming can be such a fantastic option.

Please join me in giving Emma a warm Northumberland welcome! 💙🐾

And don’t worry… I’ll stick to pet sitting, dog walking, and nail trims. It’s in everyone’s best interest. 😂

This is another good reason to hire a nanny 😂

When neighbors noticed food deliveries piling up outside the same Florida home for nearly three days, they knew something wasn't right. Bags of burgers and fries kept arriving, but no one ever answered the door. Fearing the homeowner might be in trouble, they called the police to check on the house.

As officers stepped inside, they expected to find an emergency. Instead, they found an African grey parrot standing next to the home's telephone. According to reports, the bird was pecking at the keypad just as another restaurant was calling back to confirm an order. The moment it noticed the officers, the parrot climbed back into its cage as if nothing had happened. It was a scene no one expected to witness.

The mystery was solved when the homeowner returned from a three-day trip. He explained that the parrot had apparently learned how to place food orders by watching him over time. Several restaurants were saved on one-touch speed dial, and his payment information was already connected to the delivery accounts. Since the bird's favorite word was "burger," officers believed that explained why so many deliveries contained burgers and fries. By the end of the weekend, nearly $5,000 had reportedly been charged in food, delivery fees, and tips.

The homeowner apologized to the restaurants and his neighbors, promised to replace the cage lock, and admitted that one-touch ordering hadn't been his best idea. Much of the unopened food was later donated, while one officer jokingly said the clever parrot had been placed under "cage arrest." Sometimes, the funniest stories begin with someone simply checking if a neighbor is okay.

✨ Running a pet sitting business is a little bit like having the world’s biggest friendship circle. ✨

Some friends are part of your everyday life. Some pop in every few weeks. Some disappear for months—or even years—and then, one day, they come back into your life as if no time has passed at all.

That’s one of the most magical things about pet sitting.

Dogs and cats don’t keep score. They don’t wonder why it’s been so long. They simply remember the people who loved them, cared for them, and made them feel safe. ❤️

When this handsome guy’s dad reached out needing pet sitting services again, we were absolutely over the moon.

What makes it even more special? This sweet face was one of the very first members of The Cobourg Pet Nanny family. 🐾

Seeing him again reminded us just how incredible this journey has been. Businesses grow, life changes, families move, schedules shift… but the relationships we build with our clients—both two-legged and four-legged—have a way of picking up exactly where they left off.

It’s one of the greatest privileges of what we do.

To all of the pets we’ve cared for over the years: whether we saw you yesterday or it’s been a few years… we’ll always be excited to see your wagging tail, hear your happy purr, and remind you that you’re still part of our family.

Some friendships are for a reason.
Some are for a season.
And some leave little paw prints on your heart forever. 🩵🐾

From all of us at The Cobourg Pet Nanny, we hope you have a happy, safe, and relaxing holiday weekend. Give your furry family members an extra cuddle from us—we can’t wait to see you all again soon! 🇨🇦🐾

🍔 Introducing: The Cheeseburger Policy ❤️

Some policies are written in a handbook.

Some are quietly created by love.

The Cheeseburger Policy is one of those.

It all started with a beautiful dog named Ginger. She was one of those clients who quickly became so much more than a name on our schedule. Her family welcomed us into their lives, and over the years our relationship grew into a genuine friendship. Even today, Ginger’s owner remains someone I consider a mentor in business.

When I learned that Ginger’s time had come, I asked one simple question:

“Can I come say goodbye?”

On the way, I picked up a plain cheeseburger. No onions, of course. 🍔

It wasn’t about the food. It was about celebrating a life well lived. One last special treat. One last visit. One more chance to tell a dog how deeply they were loved.

Since then, The Cheeseburger Policy has quietly become part of who we are.

Whenever one of our furry friends is nearing their final goodbye, and if the family is comfortable with it, one of us will stop by with a plain cheeseburger, a few extra cuddles, and a heart full of gratitude.

This isn’t just something I do, either. Our wonderful pet nanny Brooke has also had the honour of delivering a final cheeseburger and sharing those precious last moments with a beloved pup and their family.

It’s one of the hardest parts of this job.

It’s also one of the greatest privileges.

We spend so much time celebrating wagging tails, muddy paws, zoomies, and happy adventures. Being trusted to stand beside a family during one of the most difficult days of loving a pet is something we never take lightly.

Every dog deserves to leave this world knowing they were adored.

And if we can help make that goodbye just a little sweeter—with a cheeseburger, a few tears, and a whole lot of love—we always will.

To Ginger, and to every dog who has shared one last cheeseburger with us… thank you for letting us be part of your story. ❤️🐾
