I’m incredibly honoured to have been nominated in two categories for the Northumberland Spirit Awards and to have been selected as Best Pet Services! 🏆❤️

Thank you to everyone who nominated me, voted for me, trusted me with your pets, recommended my services, and supported my little business along the way. Every wagging tail, happy purr, and nervous pet who learns to trust reminds me why I love what I do.

Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference. ❤️

When we were asked if we knew anyone who could make custom dog bandanas for this year’s Walk a Mile event, we immediately thought of our friends at . We were proud to sponsor the bandanas, and they were just as excited to help support this incredible cause. 🐾

These beautiful bandanas (which Jasper has already broken in 😅🤦‍♀️) will be worn by the dogs participating in the walk.

This cause is especially close to my heart. I’ve had the privilege of visiting and working with some of the women and their pets through nail trim visits. One thing that has always stayed with me is that when families arrive in a safe place, it’s not only the humans who are decompressing and healing—the animals are too.

Pets are family. They provide comfort, stability, and unconditional love during some of life’s hardest moments. That’s why it’s so important that women know there is a place where they, their children, and their pets can find safety together.

We’re honoured to support this event and the incredible work Bethesda House does every day. ❤️

A little appreciation post for Brooke 🐾

Brooke has been with the Cobourg Pet Nanny team for just over a year and a half now, and yesterday she really stepped up in a meaningful way.

I had a client reach out while their household was dealing with illness. With one parent out of town and a lot happening at once, they were trying to manage pet care as well as short-term support for their toddler for a couple of days.

I wasn’t actively on-site at the time, but I am familiar with their dog as I regularly do their nail trims, so I was able to support them from a distance and help coordinate.

It became clear they needed a bit of extra help beyond what I typically provide or feel confident taking on in that capacity, so I reached out to Brooke.

Brooke was able to step in for a very short-term, two-night situation and provide that additional support while the family navigated a really difficult moment. It made a huge difference in a time-sensitive situation, and I’m really grateful she was available.

Just to be clear, this was a one-off situation outside of our usual pet care services and not something we’re offering as part of the business. However, I do think it’s valuable for people to know that Brooke independently has experience with childcare and babysitting outside of her work with us, and with permission, we’re happy to connect families with her directly if they’re ever in need of a sitter.

It’s always nice knowing there are trusted people in your community when life throws the unexpected at you.

The little things. ❤️

At the end of the day, this is what motivates me more than anything.

It’s when a nervous rescue dog finally works up the courage to come over and give me that very first sniff.

It’s when a reactive dog who once barked from a distance starts wagging their tail because they’re genuinely excited to see me.

It’s when I have a dog who is terrified of nail trims and, over time, starts to realize that I’m not there to scare them. The first paw they willingly offer, the first trim without a struggle, or the moment they walk through the door a little less worried than last time—those victories mean the world to me.

It’s when the shy cat who spent the first few visits hiding under the bed suddenly decides I’m trustworthy enough to come out and say hello.

And yes, it’s even the cats who spend weeks judging me from across the room like they’re conducting a full character assessment, only to eventually decide I’m acceptable company. The first slow blink, the cautious head bump, or the moment they choose to sit beside me always feels special.

Those moments might seem small to everyone else, but they’re huge to me.

Pet care isn’t just about walks, feeding schedules, nail trims, or litter boxes. It’s about building trust. It’s about patience, consistency, and meeting animals where they are. Every tail wag, every purr, every offered paw, and every tiny step forward is a reminder that trust isn’t given—it’s earned.

And honestly, that’s what makes this work so rewarding.

The little things are actually the big things. 🐾❤️

✨ Can we all take a moment to appreciate how amazing Misty is? ✨

She’s been with the team for what feels like five minutes and has already found ways to make our nail trim scheduling so much more efficient. 👀

You know that thing I do where I tell someone, “Absolutely! I’ll add you to the schedule!” and then promptly get distracted by a dog, a guinea pig, an email, and seventeen other things? 😅

Well, Misty has figured out a way to make our nail trim rotation practically automatic, which means less chance of anything slipping through the cracks and more time spent doing what we love—helping your pets!

🐾 We still have a few openings in our in-home nail trim rotation. If you’d like to get set up on a recurring 4–6 week schedule (Tuesday through Friday), send us an email at [email protected] and Misty will get everything organized for you.
