One year after importing my trio of liege - I hatched my first splash chick. This is what I was dreaming of since getting these birds and was my personal goal to accomplish and I am so excited.
I imported a black rooster, black hen, and blue hen, which meant I needed to hatch and raise up a blue rooster in order to get splash. I hatched over 50 birds last spring and got only 2 blue chicks - luckily one ended up being my magnificent rooster Blue who is the father of this little baby splash chick. This was my 3rd egg hatched from Blue and I cannot believe the luck of getting a splash as there is only a 25% chance when breeding blue to blue.
I can’t wait to watch this little baby grow!
