When I first met Presley a few months ago he was just a pup. Very outgoing and loved to rollover and loved everyone. He would bark and get excited, but as puppies do. As he grew up he started showing some reactivity towards sounds and people. One minute 5 people could walk by but then 1 walks by and he would go bananas! He was struggling with over stimulation and once he was past his threshold, he couldnt figure out how to come back from it. After a few short sessions and his neutering, Presley has made great progress! Even in this video, which doesn't seem like much. Seems like we are just walking, we walked passed a contractor, not only did Presley have to walk passed him but he also managed to walk past while he was making loud noises. Both were triggers. You will see he backs out of frame at one point. He was thinking about what he needed to do. We didnt stop moving at any point and with the work we have put in, he realized everything was fine, he didnt need to react, he knew the person holding the leash had his back and with some reasurance he became confident in himself to keep going and stay calm. Quickly Presley has shown he is able to be confident in himself. Walks are much more enjoyable!
Some dogs love everyone and everything and can be social, other dogs don't want to be and that is ok. But every dog should be a civil member of society and be able to be able to co-habitat as needed. If not we find a way to manage it so you can still enjoy everyday things with your furry friend or other solutions that keep everyone safe abd happy while enjoying life.
After all his hard work, Presley had a well deserved dip in his favorite bucket of water!! Who doesn't love a water dog 💜
