Richlands Australian Cattle Dogs

Richlands Australian Cattle Dogs Richlands Reg'd Kennel-Australian Cattle Dogs Australian Cattle Dogs are known as being a healthy breed. These tests are done through a simple DNA sample.

However, there are a few health conditions associated with them, and responsible breeders will screen their breeding stock for these health conditions. It is important to look for a breeder who has their breeding stock tested for and cleared of (as minimum) hip/elbow dysplasia, Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA), Primary Lens Luxation (PLL) and hearing. All puppies should also be hearing tested bef

ore they move to their new homes. Other diseases to be tested for are; Cystinuria (Australian Cattle Dog Type), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM), Myotonia Congenita (MC) (Australian Cattle Dog Type), Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis 12 (NCL12), Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis 5 (NCL5). Do not be afraid to ask to see certificates or registry records on breeding stock. Ethical breeders will be happy to show you their dog’s health and registration records. Be wary of any breeder who says that they do not do health testing, or give you excuses, or if they will not show you proof. All of our dog are health tested.

Poppy (pending CKC approval) is now a Champion!

She was such a good girl the last two weekends, earning Best of Breed, Best of Winners, Winners Bitch, and Best of Opposite. I am beyond proud of her 💕

Thank you Kris Hutton for helping make my girl shine. I’m pretty sure you are the only other person Poppy would happily run around in circles with, other than me. 💕🐾 💞

Smoke has also had a great start to his show year!

Over the last two weekends, he’s earned Best of Breed, Best of Winners, Winners Dog, and Best of Opposite. He now has 6 points toward his championship.💕

We’re also so lucky to have such a wonderful, competitive group of ACDs here in BC to show with. Showing alongside everyone makes it that much more fun and rewarding. 🐾

To say I am proud of my dogs is an understatement. This past weekend we went to our first Australian Cattle Dog Specialty. Poppy was her rock solid self and it is always so fun to go in the ring with her. Smoke and I have been practicing hard for the past month and a half and I can confidently say that the improvements are huge! He is such a dude and he makes me smile all the time!

Throughout the weekend they were both amazing and we came home with lots of ribbons and fun memories with new friends. The highlight of the weekend was Best Puppy in Specialty Show for Smoke at the ACDCC Regionals, and Reserve Winners for Poppy at the ACDCC Regionals. Thank you Ms. Sandy Alexander for recognizing them both. Smoke also won the Juvenile Sweepstakes at the Specialty. Thank you to Ms. Lisa Maki for your kind words about both dogs.

I feel like my learning curve has been steep, but thank you Karen Brearley for all your support and guidance. We are learning so much from you and it's always so much fun!

Also a huge shout out to Smoke's breeder and Co-owners, Tauren Stonehouse (Halcyon's ACDs) and Tania Bourke (WNR ACDs). Thank you for sending Smoke my way! I am very excited for all of us about this guys future.

And of course Lorraine Norris. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be knee deep in Cattle Dogs! Haha

I wasn't thinking and didn't get a photo with Poppy, so I'll have to take a candid of her with her ribbon from the specialty tomorrow.

We had another great day at the Pacific Kennel Club Dog Show!
Poppy was Winners Female again, earning another 2 points toward her championship, and Smoke took Best Baby Puppy in Group once more. These two are having an incredible weekend in fantastic company!

It’s been such a fun time meeting new people and enjoying so many beautiful dogs.
