Everyone seems to be settling into life without Clara okay. For us, it still feels weird, and I still feel my heart jump a little in panic when I only see 4 horses out in the field, or I see a horse laying down, but its slowly getting easier. It will never be the same, but that doesn't mean it still can't be okay.

Pip got some xrays on his club foot today, and he may not end up being ridable. He is grade 3, almost 4 and will need shoes to be sound, and most likely surgery, but we might not have the funds for it at the moment at least. But that's okay, we will do all we can to make him comfortable, even if that means never riding him. He'll just chill as a pasture pet with Zen.

Most of you already know this, but apparently some dont. WE ARE NOT ACTIVELY RUNNING ANY HORSE RELATED PROGRAMS AT OUR FARM at this time. Not only do we not have the proper area to do so, but there are areas of the property that are DANGEROUS if you dont know the land (like a running river, old barn torn down/collapsed). EVEN WHEN WE DO EVETUALLY GET THERE, people will not be able to just WALK IN or DRIVE IN! They will have to call or email to make an appointment! There will be a sign giving the business phone number on the gate, so if they really thought they could come without invite and say- travelled a long ways, they can call right from there, and I will do my best to accomidate them immediately. But you DO NOT just wander onto someones property and hope they come out. Even if or recent treaspassers have been someone looking for lessons etc, KNOCK ON THE DOOR! Don't just sit there suspiciously or try to play with animals you do not personally know!

Pip is so sweet. He knew I was mad that the bush hog broke again, so he came up and gave hugs and kisses. He's very sensitive to human emotions!

long time no post! Been really sick. But we have gotten more boards up for the horses and hope to be able to use the new paddock for a month or so before winter.

Not even a month back on Tribute feeds, and the horses are looking so much better! And their coats are so shiny despite work making it hard to groom often enough. Imagine what it will be like once I start getting less crazy hours at work in a few weeks and I can groom almost every day!

Weigh your feed. Finding out I havent been giving my horses nearly as much as I thought I was for the last year. Not all feeds weigh the same for the same size scoop. A scoop of Trimax is only 3 pounds, where a scoop of Kalm n EZ is 4 pounds. I thought I was feeding 8 pounds of Trimax a day, turns out I was barely feeding 5. Lesson learned. We are now weighing all our grain.

Pretty sure that we will be switching back to Tribute. I'm feeding crazy amounts of this Purina stuff and the horses (mostly Clara and Zen) are not looking great.
