The past couple of days we took "off" for doctors, vet, and farrier appointments, it was very hectic trying to cram so much into two short days, but we did it.

Yesterday morning felt like it would have made a really great slow morning. Even though the photos make it seem calm, I promise you the reality was us running around with a tight timeline and not nearly enough caffeine in our systems. 🫣 The horses were awesome for the farrier, Bingo had her vet appointment to get xrays done on her hips just to make sure there was nothing going on with her as she had a funny gait, and I got a tetanus shot at the doctors (I almost typed vet there 😅). They were productive days but exhausting!

I hope you are all enjoying this different style of content lately, it has been fun to make and feels a bit more personal.

*Some of you have messaged me asking about the different cameras, particularly the one that feels more like film. Those photos/videos are taken on my Fujifilm point & shoot camera which is easier to carry with me on walks. I use a film simulation so I don't have to edit the photos, which means I can share more often. The sharper more detailed images are taken on my usual big Sony camera/lens set up. They both have their pros and cons, but I love them equally for different things. If you ever have questions about this kind of thing, feel free to ask, I'm happy to help. 😊

WELCOME BINGO! 🐶

It has been a year or so since we fostered a puppy, and having Amber's puppy Gretchen here had given us puppy fever... so it worked out when we saw that our favourite rescue was looking for a foster for Bingo and her brother Rusty!

Their original foster, Colleen hurt her back badly and was just not physically able to manage two crazy puppies on top of her other foster puppy PLUS her personal dogs. Colleen is awesome and drove them all the way to Amber's place for us so I could bring them back up north with me the next day. Colleen has fostered more dogs than anyone else I know, so I hope we can do her proud as I know she would have done one hell of a good job with these two pups. 🫡

Rusty went to be fostered by Courtney as the two littermates needed to be separated (their unhealthy attachment to each other wasn't doing either of them any good).

Bingo is a 3.5 month old Northern mix. If you aren't familiar with northern dogs, the term just refers to dogs that come from remote communities in northern Canada. Bingo is from northern Ontario. I find Ontario and Manitoba to be the more common places they are pulled from. A Northern mix is usually an unusual combination of breeds, so your guess is as good as mine when it comes to Bingo!

I love northern dogs, they are unique and interesting, and usually have wonderful temperaments as well. Bingo is pretty chill for a puppy, she's not a big chewer and is wonderful with our toddler and the cats/other dogs. Bingo is going to be a large dog to keep that in mind if applying.

I will be forever grateful that we have two bodies of water on the property for the dogs to play in! Even dogs that aren't usually swimmers have been enjoying at least wading in the water so they can cool off with this crazy heat.

The pond is my favourite spot to take them, the lake is great too but it is through the forest a bit so I find the bugs are much worse there. 😅

◇ PHOTOSHOOT FUNDRAISER ◇

Our foster dog Winter had an FHO surgery in May to remove his right femoral head as it had been pushed through his hip socket when he was hit by a car before coming into rescue. Prior to surgery, Winter was in a considerable amount of pain.

Now that Winter is healed and pain free, I want to see if we can raise enough money to help cover the cost of his surgery and food, so they can help more dogs like Winter.

My goal is $2500.

This guy is not at all what I expected. He is both playful and laid back, a great mix for a young dog. I find he is well balanced when interacting with the other dogs, he knows when to take it down a notch, and who he can wrestle hard with.

We very much enjoy having him around!
