Lovely silvery Asplenium we found growing in some dry forest near Tarapoto, Peru. Also present was one of the largest populations of Ranitomeya imitator we have ever seen.

Ranitomeya imitator in situ near Tarapoto Peru. Hobbyists know these yellow/orange as frogs as “Tarapoto imitator”. They are broadly distributed and very common throughout suitable habitat along the eastern perimeter of the Tarapoto valley and amidst the drier western facing slopes of the Cordillera Escallera. Further east as you decline into the Caynarachi valley and surrounding regions the classic green/yellow “nominal imitator” are abundant. Imitator are absent from the highest reaches of the Cordillera, however Ranitomeya variabilis are often encountered upon the cloudy forested peaks of these mountains.
