Finley is a nine year old 16’3” bay draft cross that has been in my program since 2020. Through no fault of his own, due to an injury for myself and that his primary rider has becoming a mom, Finley doesn't have a rider at my facility anymore. My current lesson students are either too small or too novice and all my other riders have their own horses already. Finley has been off work for about a year and half through no reason other than lack of appropriate rider and my unwillingness to part with him. Before his time off he was going w/t/c jump a small course. He was doing all this bitless in a modified side pull. He is a super playful, human loving, giant puppy dog. He will stand for hours for multiple camp kids to groom him or give him a bath. He was used for a short time in our mounted archery club until he found the track entirely too much fun to run on.
He is big, so could carry just about anyone. Being a bigger playful boy, does mean that when he plays his movements are pretty large too. Though I have never once seen him be malicious, I have seen him crow hop when fresh and give an occasional buck into the canter. All of this his riders have been able to work though and continue on.
I am looking for a young adult/adult rider that is confident and patient. We are not a show barn and Finley will not be your next 1.10 m jumper. He could be a fun-loving partner and someone’s future heart horse. More whoa then go, loves his people and his naps lol.
