If you’ve been waiting for a grey mare to call your own, this might be her.

Diva is a coming 8yo, 14.3hh ish. Diva is going walk/trot/canter, She has a little anxiety about the left lead canter, but she stays safe and willing — she genuinely wants to get it right and tries very hard to please. With a confident, relaxed rider who offers quiet reassurance, she truly shines. She would thrive in a partnership where she has one consistent person to build confidence with.

She has never shown any dangerous behavior. She has been ridden inside and outside, hacked around the property, and trailers well. Her spook is minimal — more of a little “vibrate in place” rather than a reaction that goes anywhere. She’s good to groom and tack, enjoys attention, she enjoys her body worker sessions and is good for the farrier.

On the ground, she’s interactive and enjoys games, she’s the type that likes being engaged with her person. She lives happily in a stall or outside and is an easy keeper. Currently wearing front shoes with leather pads; otherwise very low maintenance.

She has popped over a few small fences and is absolutely adorable doing it, plenty of potential for someone who wants a fun project for the hunter ring to bring along.

If you’re looking for a kind, sensitive grey who will give you her whole heart, she’s worth a conversation.

Please message for more information and to set up a phone call or viewing.
Everyone needs a grey 😉

Training Thought of the Week: Power Builds Confidence

A theme I keep seeing is horses working in a canter that lacks true power behind it. When the stride is small and the horse is thinking backward rather than forward, it doesn’t just affect the quality of the movement, it also has a big impact on their confidence.

Without enough push from behind, straightness and rhythm become difficult to maintain because the horse doesn’t have the energy or power needed to stay organized. Riders often try to fix the symptoms… steering, balance, or connection, but without a canter that has intent and jump, those pieces are much harder to establish.

This becomes especially noticeable when we start jumping. Many horses that appear to lack confidence to the fences are actually being set up for a much harder effort than necessary. When a horse arrives to a jump in an underpowered canter, they have to work significantly harder to carry the rider over the fence. Over time, this can create hesitation because the effort feels difficult and unpredictable, making it harder for the horse to truly believe in the job.

The first step is forward energy and it shouldn’t feel like you’re chasing your horse around the arena to create it. True forward is when the horse is thinking ahead and carrying themselves with purpose. From there, we can find straightness by bringing the shoulders into alignment with the hindquarters, so the power can travel cleanly through the body instead of escaping to one side.

When that energy and alignment come together, the feel of the canter changes dramatically. It goes from flat and weak to round, bouncy, and forward, without pulling you around the arena or requiring constant chasing. This is where horses begin to find a rhythm they can confidently work from, a kind of flow state where the stride feels organized, sustainable, and clear.

When you ride this week, ask yourself whether the canter truly has enough push to carry you somewhere, or if you’re trying to build quality from a stride that’s simply too underpowered. Improving confidence often starts with improving the engine, because power, straightness, and rhythm are what allow our horses to believe in the job we’re asking them to do.

Looking for a smaller prospect with talent and personality? Meet Suzy “Q”!

Suzy is a 2020 bay mare standing at 13.1hh, and she’s a Morgan × Welsh × POA cross. She can be registered with the Sport Pony Association. She’s got the look that makes her an eye-catching hunter type, yet she’s also the kind that could just as easily play around in obstacles, Western, or pretty much anything you’d want in an all-around pony.

She was started with Jim Anderson and has gone through several of his clinics, so she’s got a thoughtful and correct foundation. Right now she’s schooling walk, trot, canter, and she’s been introduced to jumps, many obstacles, and even cattle sorting. She goes both English and Western, so she’s very adaptable depending on where her next rider wants to take her.

At the barn she’s a sweetheart. She’s easy to keep, loads and trailers like it’s no big deal, has great manners, and every ride she gets a little more steady under saddle. Vaccines are current for spring 2025, and she’s sound with no history of lameness.

Between her sweet nature, nice build, and solid start, Suzy Q is set up to be a fun and reliable partner—whether that ends up being in the hunter ring, in Western events, or just as a handy all-around sport pony.
