🔥home still needed🔥

Sadly we are closing our farm doors and need to rehome two very special companion horses, Shade and Pablo on free leases. Located 30 minutes East of Ottawa and would prefer to keep them within Ottawa visinity.

SHADE is a 22 year old draft X gentleman ( my guess is percheron/quarter horse) standing a solid 16h, looking for a special new address as a companion or therapy horse prospect.
Shade was a dream of a horse to ride but his riding days are done as he has osteoarthritis in the front right pastern joint (X-rays available). He is on maintenance for this and is pasture sound.
He is top of his herd currently (retirement paddock) but gets picked on with some more dominant horses in the other field. In his herd, he has protected injured horses and is more of a gentle leader. He has a soft and calm disposition.
I would love to see him in a Therapy program as I think that he would excel, but he would also makes a great companion horse.

PABLO is a grade Paint standing 15h and is in his early 20’s according to his incisors. He does have navicular changes in his front left and is being maintained on 1 tab of Previcox daily. He is not a candidate for injections (x-rays available). We purchased Pablo for a very special job, one that he can still do in moderation. Even though he is horse sized, he is fantastic with kids, and his job with us has been to introduce young first-time riders to horsemanship and riding. We would do private sessions upon request, but Pablo’s specialty was being the star of kids birthday parties where he would do lead line and then stand to be hand painted by the kidsHe will stand for hours to be groomed (or be painted) and is the worlds best horse hugger. He is the epitome of ‘in your pocket’ and will follow you around everywhere (with or without treats). Because of his navicular changes and maintenance though, he cannot back an adult rider. Pablo’s max is 80lbs, for 1 hour at a time, at a walk only, and can do so twice per week without any noticeable lameness. So, if you have some young kids looking for a horse to dote on, and take nice easy going introductory rides, Pablo is your guy.

Bee is a 16 y/o, 15h3 standardbred mare looking for a new address where she can have her much deserved riding/driving/grooming human buddy. Bee is a former Amish driving horse who, as a result, responds very well to verbal cues and is also a lovely sit ride. She is a pacer and goes w/t with ease, but we have yet to find her canter for more than a couple of strides. (Videos available.)
Bee has some buttons in the arena with basic ground work, but nothing fancy. She does enjoy a trail ride with a buddy although she will go out alone with a more experienced rider.
Bee is upper pecking order but not nasty. She loves to play and run in a large paddock with her mixed herd mates. She loves being groomed but can be a bit girthy with blanketing. She is excellent for the vet and farrier and can live in or out. She is mostly out with us, but settles well on extra cold nights where I keep her in.
I have struggled with posting this for a while as she is such a wonderful horse, but I really need to downsize my herd.
Located 30 minutes East of Ottawa in Limoges/Casselman area. Asking mid 4’s

Posting for a friend:

2006 18hh Clyde x Tb mare by Walsh (x Seattle Slew), Evie is truly a special mare looking for a new place to call home. She spent many years being trained in dressage and has an absolutely beautiful flowy movement. She was then sold to a lesson barn where she was used for lessons as she loves kids and human connection but did not do well working in a lesson program. Evie does best with someone where there is an established bond.

Evie has been out of work for 3+ years, and her body condition shows. She is a very easy keeper and essentially gets fat on air. She is currently on a low NSC pellet daily for essential nutrient maintenance and netted hay 24/7.

She has not been ridden by her current owner so for recent assessment purposes, we lunged her in both directions, W/T. She did not willingly pick up a canter, nor did we push her. She does canter beautifully in the field. She accepted tack with moderate ease. She is a bit head shy so will raise her head when haltering, or in this case bridling, but leads very willingly. She saddled easily, but wised up very quickly to mounting attempts. Again, did not push on this day.

The best fit for Evie would be a confident and experienced rider, perhaps someone looking for a trail buddy or to put Evie’s Dressage buttons back to good use recreationally. Should the latter be the case, a PPE is recommended. Although she can be alot of hourse, once she knows she can trust you, she will give you her heart.

Evie is UTD on farrier (every 6 weeks), shots and deworming. She is barefoot and does have a split on the back right inside hoof heel, which is easily maintained with consistent farrier work.

She is top of the pecking order and does well in a mixed herd. She is a very social gentle giant with humans and horses. She particularly loves younger horses, and became very motherly with a yearling we had for a period of time. She is respectful of fences and loves to be pampered. She prefers to be outdoors, but does fine coming in for the vet / farrier / and daily rations.

Evie does have mild heaves. She is currently unmedicated and has the occasional flare up. She would benefit from being on seasonal maintenance and square bales outdoors if possible.

This horse means a lot and will only go to the right home. Asking low 4's. Motivated to sell.

Videos and more photos for serious inquiries. Located in Limoges, Ontario (30 minutes East of Ottawa).
