This summer, Capital Power supported us with a $5,000.00 donation to support the aquarium in our pursuit of several backup water supply pumps. These pumps will be critical to ensuring that our aquarium animals are protected in the event that one or more of our pumps fail!

According to the forecast it is going to be REALLY hot tomorrow! We will be closing for safety reasons from 12:00PM to 4:30PM, but will still be open 10:00AM to 12:00PM, and from 4:30PM to 7:30PM!

At this brief meeting, we will review the activities and accomplishments of 2024, goals for 2025/26, and elect a new board of directors for the 2025-2026 year. We will be opening registration to 2024 Season Pass Members starting on May 5 and to the general public on May 12.

We’re offering 9 weeks of fun, hands-on marine science for kids in Kindergarten to Grade 6. Campers are divided into two age groups: Junior Explorers (Kindergarten to Grade 2) and Senior Explorers (Grades 3 to 6), based on their current grade this spring. Camps run Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm, and include exciting experiments, outdoor adventures, and whale watching tours for Senior Explorers in August camps, in partnership with Campbell River Whale Watching.

Spaces are limited, so don’t miss your chance to dive into a summer of discovery.

The Discovery Passage Aquarium is now hiring for permanent and summer positions!

We offer fun and unique hands-on educational experiences for people of all ages. Come to see, touch and feel our incredible local marine species and habitats and discover the diverse marine life of Discovery Passage and Islands. The Aquarium is open from spring until fall each year. Specimens from representative local species are collected from the marine environment in the spring and returned to the area of collection at the end of the season.

We aim to be an inclusive, learning organization with progressive hiring practices. We value our employees and volunteers and provide ongoing opportunities for professional development.

Animals from the Discovery Passage Aquarium are going home. We are inviting 2024 members to assist with releases. There are limited spaces so email us soon!

Members of the public who are not aquarium members are still welcome to attend and watch our releases.

The Discovery Passage Aquarium is closed today to honour and acknowledge National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Our facilities facilities and educational activities take place primarily in the traditional and unceded territory of the Ligwiłda’xw people; the We Wai Kai, Wei Wai K*m, and Kwiakah First Nations. We honour their stewardship of the lands and waters of this region and we pledge to continue to work towards building our relationship.
