We will be opening registration to 2024 Season Pass Members starting on May 5 and to the general public on May 12.

We’re offering 9 weeks of fun, hands-on marine science for kids in Kindergarten to Grade 6. Campers are divided into two age groups: Junior Explorers (Kindergarten to Grade 2) and Senior Explorers (Grades 3 to 6), based on their current grade this spring. Camps run Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm, and include exciting experiments, outdoor adventures, and whale watching tours for Senior Explorers in August camps, in partnership with Campbell River Whale Watching.

Spaces are limited, so don’t miss your chance to dive into a summer of discovery.

The Discovery Passage Aquarium is now hiring for permanent and summer positions!

We offer fun and unique hands-on educational experiences for people of all ages. Come to see, touch and feel our incredible local marine species and habitats and discover the diverse marine life of Discovery Passage and Islands. The Aquarium is open from spring until fall each year. Specimens from representative local species are collected from the marine environment in the spring and returned to the area of collection at the end of the season.

We aim to be an inclusive, learning organization with progressive hiring practices. We value our employees and volunteers and provide ongoing opportunities for professional development.

It is that time of year again!

Animals from the Discovery Passage Aquarium are going home. We are inviting 2024 members to assist with releases. There are limited spaces so email us soon!

Members of the public who are not aquarium members are still welcome to attend and watch our releases.

The Discovery Passage Aquarium is closed today to honour and acknowledge National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Our facilities facilities and educational activities take place primarily in the traditional and unceded territory of the Ligwiłda’xw people; the We Wai Kai, Wei Wai K*m, and Kwiakah First Nations. We honour their stewardship of the lands and waters of this region and we pledge to continue to work towards building our relationship.

We had the fortune of bumping into Mack from in Campbell River today!

The Discovery Passage Aquarium opens to the public on May 18 with a wide range of marine species to visit at their aquarium, summer camps hosted in their Explorer Lab at the adjoining Marine Heritage Centre in July and August, and also offers year-round school programs.
