Remembrance Day at Clever Canines 🐾

This Remembrance Day, we’re honoring the brave dogs who served alongside soldiers in wartime — true heroes on four paws.

Gander – A Newfoundland in the Canadian Army who saved soldiers’ lives by carrying a live gr***de away during the Battle of Hong Kong.

Judy – An English Pointer with the British Royal Navy who rescued stranded crew and became the only dog officially recognized as a Prisoner of War.

Rip – A terrier mix who searched bombed sites during the Blitz, saving over 100 lives and earning the Dickin Medal in 1945.

Join us as we remember their courage and loyalty.

We’re officially 140 today! 🎉🐾 (That’s 20 in people years.)
From a little idea (and a big leap of faith) in 2005, to 140 dog-years of doing what we love — today we’re celebrating Clever Canines turning 20!

Today, dogs and staff got to celebrate together — and it reminded us just how lucky we are. We’ve built something truly special: a place full of heart, connection, purpose, and a whole lot of joy. 🐶🧡

To every staff member — past and present — who’s helped shape this place, and to every client who’s believed in us, supported us, and trusted us with their dogs... thank you. We are beyond grateful.

Here’s to the memories made, the lives changed, and the dogs that made it all worth it.

20 years ago, Clever Canines started with a leash, a dream, and a copy of Small Business for Dummies. On June 3, we’re celebrating two decades of helping Calgarians Experience Freedom with their dogs — and the Calgary Herald shared our story!
