Aaannnnd we already have our first clutch from the refreshed colony of mystery snails. Assuming that the humidity level is good in their new home, the eggs will hatch in a couple weeks and we should have snails available in 2 months, give or take.

We are currently out of stock of mystery snails.

It is time to reset our breeding program to include fresh genetic material and re-introduce the white footed colours that seemed to have been lost in our program.

We have selected a few of our current snails and will be adding some from a couple of different colonies and we will hopefully start getting eggs again promptly.

Please check back in 2 months or so when we have replenished our stock.

Went to the Calgary Aquarium Society spring auction on Saturday....

Bought more plants than I need so if anyone is looking for some plants send me a PM. My extras include Cabomba, Limnophilia Sessiflora, Java Fern babies.

Also bought some fish, OF COURSE. These are internet images of the two breeds I picked up since I haven't been able to get decent pictures yet. Hoping to have offspring available in a few months.

Sadly, we had a pump malfunction on our 20 gallon. The hose popped off the air pump and filtration and aeration ceased resulting in a few losses including two of our favourite fish.

Snakeface, our original and grandpa killifish, and Vlad, our adorable panda garra. These are hard losses and will be seriously missed.

Swim in peace, boys.

The second piece of exciting news is that our little side project has reached a first milestone.

Starting with a single male and random assorted females, we have a new strain of endler guppies available for purchase.

We call this strain Silver Lasers. Red/orange double sword tails with long dorsal fins and a silver body. Most are tuxedo, but some are coming in blond (no black). Some are also showing a minor green tint to their chest. We will be trying to cultivate that as a separate strain for the future, but for now, we have silver males available.

Pictures are poor due to the fish's activity level and one tank is acrylic and pretty badly scratched.

Exciting week here at SnL.

Our molly, Ringwald (orange) has finally lost weight. How? By busting out about 40 babies! These little calico fry are super cute. We'll be growing them out and they should be ready for new homes in about 2 months.

I will post regular updates. Send us a message if you want some and I'll make sure to hold them for you.
