Calgary Humane Society Facebook Community Standards

At Calgary Humane Society we operate based on the values of empathy and respect for all living things with the goal of creating a more compassionate society. Our community standards can be summarized in three main categories:

Respectful communication:
All members are expected to be respectful in how they communicate at all times. We understand

that from time to time there will be disagreements, but at all times the communication must remain respectful. Profanity, hateful comments, racist statements, libelous content and personal attacks will result in comment deletion, warnings or participation bans. No solicitation:
Any and all fundraising/event notifications posted on Calgary Humane Society’s Facebook community must be given explicit permission. Solicitation of our community members for fundraising or petitions is NOT permitted. Absolutely no links to personal fundraising pages (GoFundMe etc.) are permitted on the CHS Facebook Community. If you are hosting an event to raise funds for Calgary Humane Society that you would like mentioned on our page please contact our page administrator or our resource development team to discuss. Respect for privacy:
Calgary Humane Society is engaged under provincial legislation to uphold the Alberta Animal Protection Act. As such, we have a duty to protect the integrity of the investigations we conduct. We also have a duty to protect the identity and information of our clients. Any posts that pose a risk to an investigation or are a potential violation of existing privacy legislation will be removed from the page. Calgary Humane Society reserves the right to delete any posts that are in violation of our community standards, send warnings regarding community conduct and block individuals from further posting on our Facebook community at our sole discretion. If you have questions regarding our community standards or have a concern regarding the conduct of an individual on our community page, please contact our page administrator.

After your 5K walk or jog, stick around for a dog-friendly outdoor festival packed with activities for the whole family, two- and four-legged alike!

Meet Pumpernickel 🍞!

This sweet, playful pup is ready to find his forever home 🐶💛! Found as a stray, he’s been bravely adjusting to shelter life and discovering what it means to simply enjoy being a dog. Once he feels safe, he becomes incredibly affectionate, leaning in for pets and offering gentle nudges to those he trusts 🥰.

Pumpernickel loves a good game of fetch, tearing around the park, going for walks, and has been known to catch a serious case of the zoomies 💨🐾!

Pumpernickel is searching for a home that is patient and supportive, and he could do well with older kids who understand dog body language. With slow introductions, he might enjoy some animal friends too ❤️.

This cuddle queen is all about naps, snuggles, and finding the perfect lap to claim as her own, yes, even if she has to squeeze her way in! Muffin has the gentlest spirit and a heart full of love, complete with a rumbling purr, sweet head rubs, and affectionate kisses 😽.

She absolutely adores head pets and ear scratches, and she’ll happily soak up all the attention you can give. Muffin is searching for a home that is calm and understanding, she’d love to be your one and only, or perhaps share her space with a laid-back older cat who knows how to respect boundaries 🏡💖.

Got a shop or a warehouse?

We’re placing working cats, independent felines not suited for a typical home life, into secure indoor spaces like shops, warehouses, and workshops.

The ideal home has a fully enclosed space with no open doors, room for cats to explore and hide, and temperature control (heated or insulated). Daily care includes fresh food and water, a clean litter box, regular check-ins, and vet care when needed.

Adopters can be individuals or businesses with a main contact, and must be ready to start the cats in a secure, smaller space like a large crate or closed room.

All cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and prefer to be adopted in pairs or small groups. While not socialized with people, many begin to warm up once settled.

These cats need a different kind of home, and you might be the perfect fit.

How Animals Learn is a unique opportunity for kids in grades 7–9 to interact with a variety of animals in a safe, supportive environment at Calgary Humane Society. 🐶🐰🦎

Campers will explore how animals learn, try hands-on training techniques, and take part in fun games, crafts, and shelter activities. Along the way, they’ll build empathy, confidence, and the knowledge needed to understand and care for animals throughout their lives. 💛
