Foster Spotlight - Sybil
Sybil has been a part of FRES since 2023. She was surrendered after it was discovered she had a long-term incontinence issue that was undetermined, and her owner felt she might not be able to manage long term. Sybil is a permanent foster and has found a place in the heart and home of her amazing foster family, including two crazy ferret brothers that adore her.
Recently she was starting to lose weight and interest in food. A visit to the vet determined there appeared to be an unusual mass in her abdomen. A follow up visit determined that the unusual mass remained, despite a course of treatment, and she was referred to another expert vet for their opinion.
It was determined at that time that the best option was an exploratory abdominal surgery, at which time it was discovered that her pyloric sphincter was hardened, causing difficulties with food passing through her stomach to her intestine. With the slightest of hand and expert knowledge of the vet, the pyloric valve section was removed and her stomach and intestine were expertly and carefully reconnected.
Sybil has beat the odds and is finally recovering at home. The path is slow as she adjusts to some adaptations for her food, but her and her foster family are taking it one day at a time.
We would like to thank the staff at Petzoic Vet for their attention, expertise and care of her through the first few days of recovery. We would also like to thank her foster family for loving her every day and her continued care and recovery.
Such life saving activities would not be possible without the support of our members. As you can imagine this surgery and recovery was quite costly. If you are interested in donating to her care and recovery, FRES would be forever grateful - any and all amounts help. Donations can be made at the link below and you will receive a tax receipt.
