Is your dog actually due for their vaccines? The answer might surprise you. 🩸🐾

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) now recommend that core vaccines — distemper, parvovirus, and adenovirus — be given every 3 years after the initial puppy series, not annually.

And a titre test can take that even further, checking whether your dog's immunity is still strong enough that even a 3-year booster may not be needed yet.

A titre test is a simple blood test that measures your dog's existing antibody levels. If protection is still there, with the supervision of your vet you can skip the booster altogether.

Over-vaccination has been linked to adverse reactions, autoimmune issues, and unnecessary stress on your dog's system — so knowing what your dog actually needs matters. 🌿

Titre testing is about giving your dog exactly what they need, and nothing more.

We're sad to announce that BOLD by Nature raw food will not be available at our store in the very near future.

In June, BBN entered interim receivership, and shortly after, our distributor dropped the line in western Canada. We stocked up as soon as we heard and kept things going as long as we could, but we're now running low with no replacement stock coming.

Our repeated attempts to explore buying directly from BBN (we easily sell enough to do so) have gone unanswered, leaving us in limbo along with you.

Here's what you need to know:

🃏 Frequent buyer cards are still being honoured while stock lasts
🤝 Several other brands have stepped up and offered to take over your cards
💬 Come in and talk to us — we'll walk you through your options

BBN was one of our top sellers and leaves a big gap in our freezer. We're actively searching for a new brand to fill the space — and ideally, we'd love it to be an independently owned, western Canadian brand that prioritizes small stores like ours over big box. (We know, a 🦄) We're also considering expanding our current lines.

Should things change and BBN becomes available to us again in the west, we'll absolutely re-examine our options at that time. But for now, we still have a great selection of raw options and our knowledgeable team is here to help you find a suitable replacement.

This week, Holly's pick is the Natural Farm Beef Cheek Roll! 🐄

She loves these for a few reasons: they're a long-lasting chew at a really reasonable price point, and — importantly — they're not tiny. If your dog tends to gulp down smaller chews whole, these are a great option. They'll actually have to work for it! 💪

Available in two sizes (5-6" and 10-12") and two flavours — plain beef cheek and beef cheek with chicken.
