CALL FOR VOLUNTEER HELP.

We are seeing the signal of early spring weather with the recent migration of hundreds of geese back over the territory over the past month...with that we are hoping to be able to begin the work of returning the land to her original state by removing paddocks, flights and the necessary buildings.

It will be a big job that will be made manageable with the assistance of others who can help take down the fences and help us salvage the flights as much as possible
We will be needing folks to labour through some of this with me and we need some help with truck and trailer owners to make trips to Cayuga , where our beautiful residents will be cared for by a new family

We will not be starting until the weather is conducive to working comfortably out of doors. Safe ground and milder temps.

If you are able to volunteer some time....hour, hours, days, week ...on site, or driving.

I hope you wil want to be a part of this effort! And greatly appreciate any effort you can offer! No effort too small 🙂.

Last update of the year....We have all our animals friends moved to their new home. A pretty little home in Tiny Township, near midland ontario. They/ We are building form the ground up out there, just as the Turtledove was done in 2020 to serve the community and provide a safe and inclusive , fear free venue for families ..

We stil have work to do here in the spring. SO volunteers will be appreciated. We must take apart our flight cages as carefully as possible and the fences ...the material is needed at the Forget Me Not Forest for our spring development .

We also have to clean out animal shelters and pull up patio stones for moving.

If anyone will come out and help with this in the nicer weather I would be very grateful.

I know there are some plans for programs being made by others and I am planning some specific programming for adults and youth. The work never ends either! So help at either location is appreciated

Thank you to the many who supported us on Six Nations over hte past 5 years. We are truly grateful for what you did to help and we are grateful that our animals are together and that they are well cared for during this time that I cannot do it myself.

Last night Angela came and we loaded up 50+ pigeons, our little bachelor flock of 14 young roosters, Ranger and his little crew of 6 hens and a hatchling and our 5 doves. And they made the journey to the Forget Me Not Forest to be with their friends who went ahead of them.
We no longer have birds at the Corral. This is a very big change for me here and it is with gratitude to Angela and her husband Glen for the work they are putting into construction and renovation to accommodate everyone... It is a lot of work....

In the next couple of weeks we are looking for help so we can de-ssemble our flights and be able to get our lofts moved there as well. If anyone would like to come help out. There is a lot of wood to move too as well as a calf hut.

I guess our next big event though will be hte moving of our beloved Winnie Pig and Cyrus, Eli and Tucker our mini donkey and mini horse.

If anyone has a trailer and would be willing to help we would be most grateful. Alternatively we are looking at about $800 in moving expenses for them. .. anyone who can help please know that all donations are still going to the animals as we build their visit worthy beautiful new location, which will be build a long the lovely walking trails in the forest at their new home. A short drive from the Midland Martyrs Shrine and St Marie Amongst the Huron

by next week....all of our feathered friends will have been relocated to the Forget Me Not Forest in Tiny Township.

Dec 6th is the date that our beloved equine, Eli and Tucker will find themselves in a beautiful new home and with the help of Out of the Ashes , Winnie Pig and Billy Goat Cyrus will also be moved to their new dwellings.
Jeffery and Monte shall likely transport in the back of Angelas SUV ....so spoiled.

If anyone wishes to help with farm clean up this week or make a donation to towards the trailering expenses of our friends, please reach out to me or Angela Vos at Forget Me Not.
We will be continuing to welcome guests and hopefully we will see visitors at the Forest if you are in the area of Midland at any point.
Please do not forget about us....our programs, while shifting , offer valuable animal interactions and opportunities to commune intimately with nature. Good for the spirit.

Sandhill Cranes over the Turtledove Corral today! Never have I seen them , and they were LOUD, and there were A LOT. This was the biggest flock that went over but there were several smaller flocks over a period of about half hour / 45 minutes. Very cool to see!

Closed permanently.
Lack of community interest in the venue and predatory problems of late. Can't keep up with the expenses or work by myself anymore. Worried about winter.

2020 /2021 were great! But the years following proved overly challenging . Simply could not compete with other activities, despite our efforts to keep ours affordable .
