Due your due diligence:

At this holiday season, be careful to whom you are sending your hard earned dollars. So many scams. Using animals as a front for scamming people of their hard earned money is not ok.

Just read a post of people stealing the post of someone's ill dog which was posted as an update and spreading it around the internet for donations. Don't be drawn in without doing your own due diligence and researching the background.

Even long running so called "rescues" can be scamming you. If they aren't at an established site, don't have a charity number for donation receipts, want donations for their living expenses far reaching more than for just rescue expenses, it isn't legitimate. When running a home based business, only a small percentage of your expenses can be claimed towards said business. Taxes also need to be paid on money brought in. When you see a "rescue" getting donations for 100% rent where they themselves reside, fuel for residence and personal vehicle, storage units where their household goods are being kept, operating without a kennel license (big red flag), then this is a scam. You are paying their living expenses to live life free.
