Happy ! 🐢💚

Just last week, Wildlife Rescue admitted a Western Painted Turtle found in the middle of the road by one of our volunteers, after almost being hit by a car.

At this time of year, it’s not unusual to spot turtles crossing roads or paths; they’re on the move in search of safe places to lay their eggs.

Thankfully, this turtle was healthy! After an assessment by our medical team and documentation by our friends at the Coastal Painted Turtle Project she was released the very next day!

If you find an injured Western Painted Turtle, please contact Wildlife Rescue through our webform: wildliferescue.ca/report-an-emergency

If you spot a healthy Western Painted Turtle, you can report your sighting through the Coastal Painted Turtle Project on Facebook Messenger or by email: [email protected]

Let’s work together to keep these incredible reptiles safe this nesting season. 🐢✨

are our favourite time of the week!

Today we are celebrating a Canada Goose family who were safely rescued from a rooftop and relocated back down onto the ground and into a water source.

We love watching the waterfowl families being reunited ✨

Recently, a tiny (and very adorable) Hutton’s Vireo fledgling was admitted to our Wildlife Hospital!

This little songbird isn’t a common visitor at our centre, making this admission extra special. Unfortunately, they had a close call with a house cat — but here’s the good news: no major injuries!

For now, this baby will stay in care, growing strong and learning the skills they need before heading back out into the wild where they belong.

During our Spring Match, your support for patients like this fledgling will be DOUBLED. That means twice the impact for every tiny life in our care.

Donate through the link below and help give this little one a second chance: https://give.wrabc.ca/page/SM26?campaignid=701OJ00000tBYBZYA4&channel=Organic%20Social&utm_medium=organic&referral_source=Facebook&utm_source=facebook&mktg_species=HUVI

This Great Blue Heron was recently admitted after an oyster had clamped tightly onto their toe!

Thanks to the skilled team at Dewdney Animal Hospital, the oyster was safely removed. Unfortunately, the damage was severe, and the toe had to be amputated.

For birds recovering from foot or toe injuries, a protective “bootie” helps keep the area clean and stable while it heals. 👢

Please join us in wishing this Rock Pigeon a happy !

This bird was brought to our Wildlife Hospital back in March. After 33 days of receiving medical and supportive care for a soft tissue injury in their wing, they were fully healed and released back into their wild home!

When Saba found an injured chickadee near her Coquitlam home in 2024, a single act of compassion sparked a lifelong commitment.

As a Transport Volunteer with Wildlife Rescue, Saba drove injured animals to safety and released them back into the wild, and found joy in every small contribution.

So moved by the community she’s a part of, Saba has included Wildlife Rescue in her will planning, ensuring animals will be cared for long into the future.

Her vision: a world where people of all ages treat wildlife with empathy and take action to protect it.

Thank you, Saba, for supporting wildlife in this special way!

This , can you picture yourself taking a similar step? A gift in your will is a powerful way to protect local wildlife for generations to come.
