CANAM 2026 RECAP

First of all I just want to say how PROUD I am of this team. After a year of many ups and down, hardships and loses I’m very excited for the direction this team is headed.

From the support and dedication from our members at CANAM to the rest of team at home watching live and cheering us on, it’s was incredible to feel that passion and love for the sport again.

I’d love to give a MASSIVE thank you to our friend Chris Denman from Aces High Flyball Team for flying across the pond to help us run dogs and support the team.

The experience to be at such a large event with someone from an experienced team to bounce ideas off of and make tough calls with, gave some great insight.

Despite having some setbacks with females coming into season and an injury mid comp, our green dogs stepped up to do their best, and I couldn’t be prouder of those owners letting us give them that experience and take every win we would in the lanes.

Some Highlights

Seana & Addie
Killed it on the lights with some great starts and nearly perfect she set the tone with a 0.001s on Sunday

Addie as always is miss reliable holding her ball, taking jumps and running consistently all weekend.

Mikenzi & Lainey
It was Lainey’s first time at CANAM she started off the week fantastic maintaining her box turns and building confidence in the lanes with a busy environment. Unfortunately we had some dogs cross over which triggers her PTSD, however, Lainey still gave it her all ALWAYS bringing her ball back, jumps and box turn were a suggestions 🤭

We are so proud of Lainey for always giving her best, not only for Mikenzi but also running with a new to her Handler allowing us to secure a win on Sunday.

Marissa, Banff, Saskatoon and Jasper

It was Saskatoons first CANAM and he handled the environment like a pro, putting up some 3.5s over the weekend and averaging around 3.6s we are very happy with his consistency and ability to run with different handlers and dogs on the fly.

Banff was his typical robot self and did everything he was asked, he ran along Chris for the weekend until he unfortunately faced an injury Sunday and had to be pulled. Banff posted some low 3.9s consistently making us hungry to keep speeding this bean up!

Jasper had to come out of his soft retirement and sub in Sunday as we started to run out of dogs. Running for the first time on the upgraded boxes and without much practice in the last year, Jasper helped secure some clean runs and made his momma proud. Jasper officially retired at canam with some racing and his CANAM send off run.
The foundation to our team and Marissa’s first Flyball dog, we wish him the best in retirement!

Chili popped in for few runs to get some more experience, unfortunately another dog chased her up the lanes and she forgot which set of jumps were hers.

All in all it was a weekend filled with friends and dogs we will always make the best time regardless of wins, points or placements.

A BIG thank you to our sponsors

OFFICIAL STATEMENT — DIRTY DOGS FLYBALL

It is with disappointment that we feel it necessary to make this statement publicly.

Following a weekend at CANAM that we had hoped would be focused on having fun, gaining experience, and continuing to improve as a team, it has become clear that a public clarification regarding our team membership and affiliations is necessary.

As of July 2, 2026, former co-captain Jason Howes, Bonny Howes, and their dogs Kezzie and Rhino are no longer members of, or affiliated with, Dirty Dogs Flyball or Niagara Dog Sports.

Jason dedicated two years to Dirty Dogs as our co-captain, and we recognize the time and effort that he contributed during his involvement with the team.

Jason and Bonny have made it clear that they no longer wish to have an association with Dirty Dogs Flyball, Niagara Dog Sports, or team captain Marissa. We respect their decision to move forward separately, and we are making this statement to ensure that the same separation is clearly understood by our current and former teammates, prospective members, fellow competitors, and the broader Flyball community.

Accordingly, Jason and Bonny should not be considered representatives, spokespersons, or influences of Dirty Dogs Flyball or Niagara Dog Sports. Their personal views, actions, training decisions, and competitive activities are their own and should not be interpreted as representing our team, its members, its values, or its performance.

Due to a recent house fire, Marissa currently does not have normal access to her home or personal property, which has delayed our ability to make all necessary updates to the Niagara Dog Sports website and other materials. Any remaining references to Jason, Bonny, Kezzie, or Rhino should therefore not be interpreted as indicating a current affiliation.

We sincerely wish Jason, Bonny, Kezzie, and Rhino the best as they continue with their new team, Springloaded. We are happy to see Kezzie and Rhino continuing to participate in a sport they enjoy.

Unfortunately, despite our efforts to move forward separately, circumstances since their departure have continued to affect members of our team and our ability to simply move forward. We hope that making the separation publicly and unequivocally clear will put an end to any confusion regarding affiliation and allow everyone involved to continue independently.

Dirty Dogs will not be engaging publicly in personal disputes or providing a detailed account of private disagreements. Our priority remains our dogs, our teammates, good sportsmanship, and continuing to build a positive and competitive team environment.

We respectfully ask that our separation and boundaries be honoured so that all parties can move forward independently.

We will be excited to share our small wins from this weekend and our thank you’s to all that helped in the coming days.

Best regards,
Marissa
