People always ask what I do to keep Pork Chop healthy, especially considering his size. The truth is, most of it isn’t super fancy (minus the parm lol)…

1. I monitor his body composition, not just his weight. The number on the scale tells me very little. I’m paying attention to muscle, body fat, and how his body is changing over time.

2. I feed for muscle, not just calories.
Nutrition isn’t just about keeping him full. It’s about supporting strength, mobility, recovery, and long-term health.

3. I choose supplements with a purpose.
I’m not interested in every trendy product that hits the market. Every supplement he gets has a specific job and addresses a specific need.

4. I prioritize his gut health. The gut influences far more than digestion. It impacts the immune system, inflammation, skin, allergies, and overall health.

5. I think about recovery just as much as exercise.
Movement is important, but so are rest, stress management, sleep, and allowing his body to recover. That’s where resilience is built.

None of this is about being a “perfect” dog owner.
It’s about giving him the best chance at staying strong, mobile, and healthy for as many years as possible. Our dogs deserve more than simply living life and getting older, they deserve to age well.

Absolutely awesome first visit at Novel today! The clinic is lovely and very well organized. They also have an awesome membership system that saves pet owners a lot of money in exam fees and other expenses.

I also loved that they were not closed off to the fact that I am almost exclusively holistic with him/feed raw, and even gave me a great tip that I hadn’t thought of, to help improve his ability to empty his a**l glands on his own (which is why we went 😂🤢🐠 IYKYK).

Pork also clocked in at 126lbs today, even though we have reduced his food intake slightly, he is obviously still growing! I have a feeling his final weight will be over 130🫪
