🚨 HEAT STROKE IN DOGS: A DEADLY EMERGENCY 🚨
With this extreme heat event, our emergency team is already seeing cases of heat stroke in dogs—a life-threatening condition that can escalate within minutes.
🐶 Dogs don’t sweat like we do. They rely on panting to cool down, which isn’t always enough in extreme heat.
What are the signs of heat stroke?
☀️ Excessive panting or drooling
☀️ Weakness or collapse
☀️ Bright red or pale gums
☀️ Vomiting or diarrhea
☀️ Seizures or confusion
☀️ Extremely high core temperature
How to prevent heat stroke:
✅ Never leave your dog in a parked car—even for a few minutes.
✅ Walk your dog early in the morning or late in the evening.
✅ Provide shade and constant access to cool, fresh water.
✅ Avoid strenuous play during peak heat hours.
✅ Watch flat-faced breeds (like Bulldogs, Pugs) and older dogs closely—they’re at higher risk.
If your dog shows any signs of heat stroke, act fast:
1️⃣ Move them to a cool area immediately.
2️⃣ Offer small amounts of water.
3️⃣ Wet them with cool (not cold) water, especially paws and belly.
4️⃣ Call your nearest emergency clinic immediately.
🌡️ Heat stroke can cause organ failure and death if not treated quickly. If you're unsure—it's always better to be safe and have your dog checked!
