Please educate yourself on what not to do from this post.

This raccoon has an older injury in his back leg. A person started feeding him and giving him a little bed on his balcony. This went on for weeks that is til yesterday. The person closed off his balcony to the raccoon. No more food, water and a comfortable bed.
The raccoon started going to other balconies begging for food. I arrived and checked out his injured leg. Unfortunately, all the wildlife rehabilitation centres are overwhelmed and have no room. My options were bringing him in to get euthanized or letting him live. I did the latter of the two choices. I brought him within a kilometre to a nature park. There is lots of food and water and places to take shelter.

Please don’t ever do what that guy did by humanizing the raccoon. Worse cutting off the raccoon after a long time of food and shelter. That is just cruel.

It's situations like this that donations help make happen.

NOTE: This is not one of my rescues. I’m sharing this to educate.

STOP TRAPPING AND RELOCATING WILDLIFE 🤬😫😭

⬇️See list below for how to humanely evict. ⬇️

It’s baby season. Local wildlife rehabbers are ALL FULL! Not just because of abandoned babies, but because of HUMANS trapping and dumping momma’s miles away and then… ohhh, there’s babies, now what?!?

This poor momma raccoon could very well die trying to make her way back to her babies. She was “relocated” miles away by someone this week for taking up residence under their mobile home. She could get hit by a car trying to get back, get in a fight with another raccoon in the territory in which she was dumped, etc.

Meanwhile, now there are abandoned babies who don’t have a mom. Often times, these babies sit in traps for days because people don’t know what to do with them while they search for a Wildlife Rehabber who has availability to help them. The problem is, this happens so frequently that everyone is full and there are no resources left to help these babies.

Please do better. There are ways of humanely evicting a family of raccoons that doesn’t involve separating families, dumping moms, and leaving babies abandoned to starve to death.

➡️ HOW TO HUMANELY EVICT RACCOONS: ⬅️

Raccoons typically have at least 2 other dens within about a 1 mile radius of their current location. What you need to do is make their current home as unappealing as possible so that they move along on their own. They often have multiple babies to move, so this can take time. Please be patient as they won’t be able to relocate overnight. It can sometimes take up to 5 days to relocate, as they can have up to 8 babies to move.

Once they have moved out completely, you MUST IMMEDIATELY repair the point of entry, or another family will move in and you will be starting over from square one.

If you do not want to make your home attractive to these “trash pandas”, secure your trash. Don’t leave pet food sitting out. They are very opportunistic and will want to stick around if there is a food source.

🔻 OPTIONS TO ENCOURAGE HUMANE EVICTION: 🔻

DO NOT use moth balls to deter raccoons or any other wildlife. They are extremely toxic.

SCENT:
1. Spray peppermint oil around the nest, but not directly in it. Reapply every few days until they leave, then secure the area.

2. Use Fox Urine. Foxes are natural predators for raccoon kits. If a momma smells fox urine near her den, she will relocate.

3. Put rags soaked in vinegar around the nest, but not directly in it. Reapply every few days until they leave, then secure the area.

4. Sprinkle “Repels All” at the entry point, but not right near and NEVER in the nest. It is a granulated ammonia product and they will not want to stick around and smell it.

SOUND:
1. A portable radio tuned to talk radio throughout the day can be helpful. Most momma raccoons are trying to rest during the day. If her nesting area becomes noisy, she will want to relocate.

2. Ultrasonic noise pest repellant boxes positioned at the point of entry can’t help deter raccoons and encourage them to relocate.

SIGHT:
1. A bright light on constantly.
2. Amber Strobe lights positioned near the nest. Raccoons will not tolerate flashing lights for long.

This video starts in Hudson, QC. A muskrat needed rescuing and was in dire need of medical care. Was driven on a very long journey to Le Refuge Lobadanaki in Saint-Étienne-de-
Bolton, QC. Did a great favour for them by driving an opossum on the way back. Was brought to an undisclosed location where other Opossums live.

Show anyone who says they have to get rid of their pets for the July 1st move day.

A recent ruling by Quebec’s housing tribunal has struck down a landlord’s “no-pet” clause, finding it violates the province’s Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms. The case involved a Montreal tenant who’s lived in her home since 2011 and faced eviction over her dog.

Tribunal judge Suzanne Guévremont ruled that blanket pet bans are an “oppressive and unacceptable intrusion” into a person’s family life. She added that the tenant “had no opportunity to negotiate this [no-pet] clause and therefore faced the heartbreaking choice of finding another home or abandoning their animals" amid a shortage of affordable housing.

In other words, tenants shouldn’t have to choose between their home and a beloved family member.

The Montreal SPCA and tenant advocates celebrated the decision, noting that no-pet clauses are a leading reason pets are surrendered to shelters—nearly two animals a day in Montreal alone. While this ruling doesn’t automatically ban all no-pet clauses, it sets a precedent: landlords must now justify restrictions case by case, rather than enforcing them automatically.

Advocates hope this marks a step toward modernizing Quebec housing law to better protect both tenants and their pets. 🏡🐶🐱

Hi everyone, just a heads-up that I am doing rescue now in eastern Ont, especially towards Kingston. And yes I will still be doing rescue in western Quebec.
I will be splitting up my time where I will be staying. This will be a few days at a time. I will do my best to make it for all animals in need.
Here is today 😊. Please enjoy the comforting sound of the water hitting the beach.

Today’s rescue took place in Gananoque, Ontario. On the shore of the St. Lawrence River, there was an injured goose. The goose was unable to walk and was stuck along the shoreline. Long story short, we caught him and then rushed him for immediate medical attention. We drove to Napanee, Ontario, to Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre for care. 😁😻😁

With gas prices soaring and supplies needed you can help us out.
Sadly there is no government funding to help.
Every dime must come from our own pockets except when we are lucky enough with donations. If you would like to help us help animals in need here are the ways you can: For e-transfer without a password use the phone number 438-680-5222 or [email protected].
