🦠🐾 Anaplasmosis in Pets: What You Should Know 🐾🦠
Anaplasmosis is a tick-borne disease that can affect dogs and cats (if going outside). It’s transmitted through the bite of infected ticks — and in our area, those ticks are active all year.
⚠️ Common signs in dogs may include:
• Fever
• Lethargy
• Loss of appetite
• Joint pain or stiffness
• Lameness
• Bruising or bleeding in some cases
- most common complaint from owners is, my pet just isn’t themselves!
Some pets may be infected and show very mild signs — or none at all — which is why routine testing and prevention are so important.
🛡️ How to protect your pet:
✔️ Use year-round tick prevention (monthly chew or topical)
✔️ Check your pet daily for ticks, especially after outdoor activities
✔️ Schedule regular wellness exams and annual tick-borne disease testing
The good news? When caught early, anaplasmosis is typically treatable with antibiotics.
