There was a time when nighttime street lighting depended on human effort, and for that, there was a fundamental profession: the lamplighter. This person had the important task of walking through the city at dusk, manually lighting each gas streetlamp to illuminate the path for pedestrians. At dawn, they would return to extinguish them, ensuring the efficient use of light. For years, this job was essential to urban life until automation and the arrival of electric street lighting rendered the profession obsolete, turning it into a memory of the past.

A archeology dig in Newfoundland unearths the oldest coin found in Canada : A archeology field worker has unearthed a old english coin in Canada that could be the oldest
ever found.The coin was found under 20cm of dirt at the Cupids Cove Plantation Historical Site in Newfoundland. The nickel size silver coin was minted between 1493 and 1499 and is known to be a Henry VII half groat or two penny piece, minted in Canterbury, England over 500 years ago.
