We have an important update to share with our community about the Scanlon Creek Bark Park🐾
The leash-free dog park at Scanlon Creek Conservation Area will be permanently closing at dusk on May 31, 2026.
We know how much this space has meant to many of you and your four-legged friends. This decision was not made lightly. After careful review, public safety concerns — especially related to nearby road changes — made it clear that keeping the Bark Park open is no longer a safe option for visitors or staff.
Looking ahead, this space will be transformed to support expanded environmental education programs connected to the new Scanlon Creek Nature Centre. This means more opportunities for hands-on learning, community engagement, and stewardship initiatives for people of all ages.
Good news: Dogs are still welcome throughout the conservation area when kept on leash and under control.
If you're looking for off-leash options, nearby communities like Aurora, Barrie, East Gwillimbury, Innisfil, Newmarket, and New Tecumseth offer great alternatives.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we prioritize safety, conservation, and education.
