🧼 Tack Tip Tuesday 🧼

Let’s talk bonnet care! If I know bonnets (and I do), yours is probably extremely gross following show season. Here’s how to keep it looking fresh and fabulous:

1️⃣ Spot Clean First: Use a damp cloth or soft brush to gently remove dirt and sweat from the fabric.

2️⃣ Hand Wash: Fill a sink with cool water and mild detergent (avoid harsh soaps - honestly Woolite is the best). Gently swish the bonnet around—no scrubbing needed.

3️⃣ Rinse Thoroughly: Make sure all the soap is gone to avoid irritating your horse’s sensitive skin.

4️⃣ Lay Flat to Dry: Reshape the bonnet and let it air dry flat. Avoid the dryer unless you want a bonnet for your Breyer.

Keep your horse’s first aid kit fully stocked—because when disaster strikes, it’s always at the worst possible moment.

My essentials include:
Vet wrap (aka the duct tape of the horse world)
An antibacterial ointment like Furazone
Thermometer
Bute or Banamine (as approved by your vet)
Fly spray/SWAT
Syringe (If you're like me you have lots of these hanging around from past ailments lol)
Scissors
Poultice
Paper Towels
Bonus: Add a phone charger because why does my phone always die when I'm waiting for the vet?
