**Training Tip Tuesday: The Foundation Matters More Than You Think**

“Starting a c**t isn’t just about getting them to ride around under saddle.

It’s about the foundation you’re building for the rest of that horse’s life.

And I think this is where a lot of people get it twisted.

I had someone reach out to me recently with a pretty in-depth question about getting their c**t started—the kind of question that doesn’t have a quick, one-size-fits-all answer. It requires context, experience, timing, and feel.

I love helping people. Truly.

But let me put it this way…

You wouldn’t email a lawyer and expect them to solve your problem for free.
You wouldn’t ask your vet to diagnose something complicated without paying for their time.

Yet when it comes to horses, people often expect professional-level guidance… for nothing.

And I get it—we all want to do things as affordably as possible.

**Training Tip:**
The foundation you put on a c**t is not the place to cut corners.

Because this stage is where your horse learns:

* How to respond to pressure
* How to think instead of react
* How to understand what you’re asking of their feet, face, mind, and body

This isn’t just “getting one started.”

This is creating a pattern of learning that will follow that horse for the rest of its life.

A good foundation makes everything easier later.
A weak one is what shows up as problems down the road.

So if there’s ONE place to be absolutely, completely intentional—it’s here.”

2) Make sure you’re caught up on current Training or Consignment Payments
3) Horses 2026 Vaccinations are DUE if they have not already been vaccinated
4) Worming also due
5) Please take the time to check your fees owed: Farrier, Chiro, Vet, Services or Pay per Rides etc
6) Lessons Open: April 1st - PM for schedule

As rodeo and jackpot season approaches, I’m taking training horses with a focus on building confidence, consistency, and creating a strong foundation so each horse is prepared to progress successfully into its next stage of work. From young horses just beginning their education to more seasoned horses needing refinement, every horse is worked according to its individual needs—whether that means introducing the basics, improving responsiveness, strengthening pattern work, or gaining exposure in new environments. My goal is to develop willing, reliable horses that are mentally and physically prepared for the demands of the season ahead, while building trust and understanding that carries both inside and outside the arena. Through patient, consistent training, each horse is given the opportunity to develop in a way that supports long-term success in rodeo, jackpots, and beyond 🐎🔥✨
